The past 4 days my family and I have all come down with colds/nasal congestion/headache/fever. I am at my weakest point caring for my family who all eat SAD. I have been so tempted to eat the chicken noodle soup/toast/etc that I feel at times I'm not going to make it through this. I keep telling myself if I eat that soup I will feel even worse. I've tried to just fast through these days because right now a salad is far from what I want right now which I always love and look forward to. I know I ran across a recipie for raw chicken noodle soup but at this point I'm not up to doing much food preparation and I think that would take some time. When I'm feeling better I will definately find that recipie and make sure I have the ingredients on hand in case this happens again. Hopefully, though the longer I stay "raw" the less change of me getting sick!!!

I agree that you are seriously reducing your chances of getting sick by staying raw. My husband picked up a bug lately and all his friends had it as well. During conversation he said "everybody has it" to which I quickly replied "I don't". I know that he spent the next few days hoping that I was going to get it because I was being a smartass but I did not even get a sneeze. Another score for the raw vegans.
You will get over this even though it seems hard now. Is there any way that you can give yourself a treat. Maybe a nice warm bath.

Mango Mommy,
Your "symptoms" are just your bodies way of detoxing. And even though your family is not raw, they are detoxing too. Drink lots of fluids and stay raw and relax and let it run it's course. Medicine will not help...it will only cause your body to work harder to clean the medicine out of your body and not to heal what is actually going on. I hope that makes sense.

Hey Mango.....

So sorry you are going thru a rough time :(

500 pts for you for toughing it out!!!!!!! :) ;)

Suggestions: Rest and fluids. Lemon juice and ginger and a little cayenne. All three will tackle the fever, congestion and headache. The ginger will aid the blood stagnancy and "blah" stomach.

If you are up for it, a enema doesn't hurt.

Detox bath: Mustard seed powder with eucalyptus oil. MSP is a strong decongestant and detoxifier. I would even do a steam with the oil for opening up sinuses and lungs.

I went through a week of flu when I first went raw. One night I gave in to temptation and ate some ramen with my husband. In the morning I felt bloated and my hands and feet were sooo swollen. Try eating lots of fruit if the veggies don't appeal to you. I ate mostly fruit and smoothies through the rest of my illness. I usually added some raw hemp protein to a big fruit smoothie. Hang in there. I know it's hard with kids, but remember to take as good care of yourself as you're taking of them!

Thanks everyone for your support. I'm feeling much better and am proud that I made it through completly raw!! Usually I cave in and eat sad or take a tylenol or advil. I know we are supposed to celebrate detox and I completely believe that when I'm not detoxing, but when the fever and aches actually hit, well thats another story!! Anyway, I just wanted to add that I don't think I would have gotten this far without this site and all the inspiring posts from great people!!
