Hello everyone,
I can't thank you all enough for this encouraging site.
I apologize if this post is too long.
I signed up for the thirty day challenge many months ago, but never posted. It was the month of July which made it easy to go raw with such a seasonal abundance of fresh fruits and veggies.
I did make it thirty+ days 100 percent raw and I felt great- clear headed, clean,
energized, rested, vibrant, and my skin glowed. At some point after the month unconsciously slipped out of the superb eating habits I had cultivated. It's amazing how that slip can last months all the way until February '06. So here I am back again. I have been raw for 6 days so I haven't quite earned the "seedling" status though I like the title!
I decided to go raw again for reasons that I will mention below which I hope will serve to remind those that have been raw for ages what it felt like before.
foggy head, restless sleep, anxiety, bloated, swollen fingers and ankles,
fatigue, aches and pains, PMS, depression, confusion, poor memory, let's see... the list goes on.
I probably have multiple food allergies/sensitivities because of the ill effects certain foods have on my body. After eating wheat, for example, I feel like I have to go to sleep almost immediately. All of these symptoms have forced me to maintain a healthy diet for the past 5 years (I'm 31 now) In spite of a "healthy diet" I still carry around about 25-30 extra pounds with me. I'd like to be 145lbs. I'm 5'9"
I can't make these pounds budge which brings me to the point of this post.
In July when I did the 30 days raw I felt terrific, but didn't loose any weight at all. After 6 days of raw this time around I feel I may have even gained weight. It may have something to do with the amount of almonds (soaked) that I eat as well as the almond butter- (I have two tablespoons a day) without these I feel extremely hungry and deprived so I don't want to cut them out.
My question is how much is too much almond butter, and how many almonds is too many?
I know everyone is different but I would like to find out if people have experimented/modified their portions with fats.
I want to go raw for the heeling benefits- one of which I hope is loosing this weight.
I'm worried that it may be metabolically impossible for me. Have people found that they haven't lost weight at the beginning of going raw but found that after their bodies did some healing they were able to drop the weight. I'm wondering if I just stick with it if there will be a tipping point?
Thanks all.
Hannah
