Hello again,
I am looking for a site where I can look up foods high in iron, or other minerals, etc. My mom is highly concerned about me now that I have been prescribed iron pills. She keeps saying that if I'd just eat a little red meat. Now I'm not fully RAW or even close really (I like to say somewhere between 50-75%), but I have really cut back on animal products. Virtually no meat or dairy, and the only slip I've had lately was some cheese.
But I don't want to eat meat. However, I don't know yet what to tell her concerning "where" I'm getting my iron. She is old school, and believes that eggs for breakfast is a great way to up your iron levels.
I am a member on Fitday.com however, I can't seem to find what I'm looking for there. Any help??
Plus I'm curious... for those SAD eaters out there, who consume meat, they appear to have no problems with Iron levels. And this is where I get confused b/c I thought that meats were hard to digest for humans, so how is it that they have good iron levels. Perhaps all the "fortified" prepackaged foods???
Thanks,
Sandra
