I have finally decided to do a 10 day MC. And, I thought since Valentine's Day is all about love -- why not love myself and treat my body to a cleanse!! My DH and I celebrated the holiday today (although -- I don't really need a day to celebrate with him!) ---- So Tuesday will be a great day to start! Is anyone interested in joining me?

I think, I think, I think....I am ready for this. I would really like to try.

Did you buy the MC cleanse stuff or are you making your own? I don't have time to buy but would like to try to do my own. Any suggestions before Tuesday would be helpful so I can run and get what I need. Otherwise, I would be happy to do a juice/water fast along w/the MC your doing.

woo, there are so many of us fasting right now, what a great web of support!

Okay, got the stuff I needed for the MC Cleanse today. Gonna need the support. I'm already hungry just thinking about this.

Yea!!!! I am so glad that there are going to be people to join me. I know this is what I am suppose to do .... although I received a lunch invite and a happy hour invite for this week. I can't say no to the lunch (work thing) - but I know that I will be strong and just drink water. The HH can wait. My body deserves this! 10 days .... starting tomorrow! I am a bit nervous, but I know that we can do it!

It does help that I have an appointment with my healing touch practioner tomorrow -- what a great way to start the MC! Can't wait to see how good we all feel during the process and at the end!

Ok --- my last post was really selfish -- and although I know we are all doing this for personal reasons I am SOOOOOOO HAPPY that I have friends to join me along this journey. It certainly will keep me going know that I have others to support ... and other who I can celebrate with at the end. :)

:p That wasn't selfish at all!

I know my body needs this, but I'm not sure I want to, so your enthusiasm is catapulting me. I don't want to be hungry and I don't feel up to feeling the misery of detox....so it helps to have someone cheerleading!

Until tomorrow,

Yea! Welcome to the first day of the Love Your Body MC!! :) I do have to say that I am nervous -- but what a great time to reflect on all of the wonderous things in my life. I am hoping to spend more time meditating and less time watching tv .... although, I do love the olympics!!

Anyway -- I know we all can do it. Just take it one day or one hour at a time. And -- what a great support system we have here! Together we can be strong enough to support each other during the hard times in the next 10 days.

Well -- off to make my delicious lemon juice and water! :)

Cheers!!

Okay...I don't mind the lemonade drink. It's okay altho my lips are flaming after the cayenne~youch!
I don't know if I can do that salt water thing. I just may have to do the lax tea morning and night. I have never tasted anything so awfully salty in my life. I was gagging.

I am just following the MC via the website. I havaen't gotton the book at all. I would love the advice or input as to what the rest of you are doing if you are following the MC~~or are you just fasting in general? I may have to mix it up a bit but I would like to try to stay with the MC.

I love "fastuary" very cute :D

Okay, group, I'll check in tonite!

Buckley

I haven't bought the book either. I am just going off of the website. And I too was surprised that I don't mind the drink! Although, I am hungry!! I am trying to enjoy each stage of the process, but it will be nice to get to Day 3 or 4 when I am not starving!

I didn't do the salt flush this morning, as I am going to have a colonic this afternoon. And then I will buy the tea.

Is everyone else going on with their regular workout schedule? I generally workout between 1 -2 hour a day. I am wondering if I will be able to keep that up during the clease. Any thoughts?

Hope everyone's day is going well. What a fun journey we are on together!!

mommamia
02-14-2006, 02:57 PM
Work out? What's that? I'm jogging to the bathroom a bit more today.

Okay, I actually hate the taste of this drink. I need to do more lemon and less pepper. That is horrid. I"m not hungry at all yet so that is good. I usually get hungry around 4 in the afternoon so we're heading there.

Do you know what each ingredient is supposed to do? I am assuming the lemon cleans one out and the pepper? THe maple syrup for energy? Sugar? I think the laxative and salt water are obvious.

Buckley
02-14-2006, 03:54 PM
Ok - I could be wrong, but I think that the lemon is suppose to be cleansing, the pepper for your metabolism and the maple syrup for energy.

Mommamia - hopefully you will start to tolerate the juice .... maybe never like it again, but just think of the wonderful things that are happening inside of your body!!!

I just got back from a healing touch session and I am even more convinced that this journey is going to lead to more joy and discovery than I originally thought. I started the MC for my body .... but I do think that my mind and spirit are going to be changed in ways I couldn't or even can't now imagine.

There is such great energy in this thread and I am so appreciative of all of you who are fasting with me!

hi team , mommamia in answer to your mc question im not doing them but am doing warm water and lemon . plus if i get feeling weak i'll juice apples or wheat grass . and buckley about workouts ive done my regular routine through all my fast ( around 12 from 3 to 16 days on both mostly water and mostly juice , farthest i got on water was around 9 days ) , though theres been times i felt weak / light headed i could still summon the strength to exercise . but at about 6 days i usally would start juicing cuz of feeling too weak to workout , so i juice because i dont like missing my workouts . what i do though is dilute the juices and strain them so its nothing solid . take care :)

Rachel

Hey best wishes to you all! Just to clarify, the lemon juice is a very cleansing and detoxifying to the liver kidneys and intestinal track. Also alkalizes, astringent, anti fungal, tissue rebuilding, mucous dissloving and various vitmans and minerals. The cayenne has stimulant qualities--enhances blood flow (if you're cold, cayenne to the rescue) It draws mucous to the colon/ The maple syrup or black strap molasses unsulphured (is what I used), has vitamins and minerals to give you energy while detoxifying and cleansing.

Word of caution--laxative teas are VERY drying so make sure you stay hydrated. I would be careful using a laxative tea with senna leaf.

I don't know if this was mentioned but a home enema can be replaced if not doing the othe eliminators. Some choose not to do any period. Tongue scraper is helpful for the coating on the tongue.

Good luck and keep us updated! :)

Thanks to all for the info on the ingredients of MC. I"m encouraged by you mich. roman...if I can't hack the cayenne I'll just go lemon/maple syrup. My husband says "Oh, you'll get used to it in a day or so!" Easy for him to say :p

Misslinda, thanks for the info also on the senna leaf tea. That is indeed what I am sipping now. Anything further I should be aware of on that? I will be careful and be sure to drink more. Honestly I didnt' drink a lot today. Only had three glasses of the MC and another glass of water. Idon't feel that is enough, just haven't been hungry yet.

Rachel, thanks for the encouragment. I needed to be told that things are going on in my body to stick with this. I'm very instant gratification kinda person and I was feeling "Hey if I don't like this stuff I"m not going it!!" So I needed to keep the long term goal in mind. That is why this board is SO nice. Encouragement is really about 75% of the game sometimes.

Until tomorrow,

Buckley

Well -- Day 1 down! Not as bad as I thought .... there were a couple of times between 4 - 6pm when I thought "why am I really doing this, and having something to eat wouldn't really be that bad, right?" .... And then I calmed myself down and took a look at some comments from people who have done fasts/cleanses before and I was reminded again of why I am doing this.

Mommamia - you are so right about the support! What a great inspiration we can be to each other!

Can't wait for the miracles of Day 2!

Rachel

Mommamia, the senna leaf caused some of us heart palpitations, sweating and in my case, panic to the point, i thought i was dying. There were a number of us here that were discussing eliminators. One of the members here that works for a digestive center and agreed that senna is one to avoid.

ONe reason stanely burrough's uses the salt flush is b/c it draws out the toxins thur theintesitnal tract and tissues. it does not overload the kidneys as one would think.

If any of you plan to do the salt flush, I would suggest grey celtic sea salt --hand harvested and sun dried NOT the bleached white sea salt from the bulk or shelf at your local health food store.

Day 2!!! I slept really well last night! And now I am ready for all of the joys of Day 2. No real hunger this morning - which is surprising, since I just got back from swimming and I am usually STARVING after swimming. I do have a colonics appt this morning - so hopefully that will also help with the detox. Slight headache this morning and lots of mucus.

I hope everyone else who is fasting has a wonderful day! And together I know we can do it!!!!! :D :D :D

Phew...okay I was doing really good until last nt.

I have problems w/depression/anxiety and take medication (for now!) and it seems that whenever I try to cleanse/ fast even a little it sets everything off kilter. Last nt. I was very irritable...the signs were not good. So this a.m. I have started to juice more. I will try to do a couple days of juicing and hold off on solid food. I did a juice fast a couple weeks ago for about three days and it felt really good, so I think I'll be able to keep going forward with this.
Not a failure, just a detour! :D

I love the money saving! Awesome! I noticed the clean up was SO easy too.

Can't wait to hear how everyone is doing, this is really encouraging!

just drinking all water . tongue is getting a little white coating . ran 2 miles yesterday , did 5 mile sprint on bike , 6 sets on bench press and had normal strength . dreamt alot again . feel great . i think now that ive done 10 fast that im used to it both mentally and physically and its becoming easy to go 3 days and more without eating where as on earlier fast i felt weaker and i guess worried ide faint at this point , i think it was mostly mental because of being programed to eat 3 meals per day . every day i love looking at the dish pan and seeing it void of dirty dishes , plus tallying up how much money im saving on food :) .

Buckely, I joined you without even knowing it. I

1) FINALLY stopped drinking coffee!!

2) have been fasting at night, but eating some during the day

3) STOPPED MESSING AROUND WITH COOKED FOOD

Sheesh!! I've been trying to "go easy on myself" and that cooked crap is just plain addictive, no two ways about it.

I agree with you; Valentine's day is a great time to do something special for yourself. Happy trails to ya! Cheli

Mommamia, I got off anti-depressants years ago by using flower essences. If you can find a practitioner in your area it is well worth it. Or a theta healer.

I feel for you. I used to be suicidal and I'm good now. I have to say that the raw diet is very anti-depressive but I went off the meds years ago and I've only been raw (on and off, sigh) since September.

Good luck getting off the meds. They nasty!

Hey Queenie!
I remember you from posting on another thread. It really helped me so much to know that you had been there with the meds/depression and are off meds. Thanks to you and others I have found good naturopath, and Dr. who will work w/alternative healing methods. They've given me lots of hope and are working w/my new diet.

I like what you said about "going easy on yourself". Sometimes you just got to quit! I think there is a transition point(perhaps when you feel like you know this raw thing is a good idea, but you can't think how you'll do it) and then a point of "let's not mess around anymore". My husband had been all raw for about a week then had some mild cooked last nt and got pretty sick. He's done that a couple of times. Each time it is another eye opener! I think that is the key time to quit messing around and just go 100%.

Michigan R: I'm following you and Buckley~I love hearing about the great benefits and energy you're getting. I believe you are the one who counseled me at one point to just do what you can and each time perhaps you'll go a bit longer when it comes to fasting. I thought of that when I started juicing today.

Buckley
02-16-2006, 04:38 PM
Ok -- not snowed in ... but out of town with limited use of internet. Gosh ... sometimes hour to hour it is either easier or harder than I thought. Going through lots of emotional stuff -- that I knew I needed to go through. Although, it would be so much easier if I wasn't traveling for work.

The good thing is that besides trying to explain why I am not eating lunch - the nights are so much free-er without needing to decide where I am going to get my next meal!!!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

WOW, you guys/galsw are the champs!!!

Mommamia, can I ask what you are juicing? Greens are very beneficial for us that suffer the severe depression. Celery is calming....spinach will keep you awake at night..........do you have a family or friend support to let them know what you are doing so in case you have extreme depressive detox symptoms that you will be safe?

oh im starving , oh im gonna faint , oh i hate being a raw foodist , oh im pouting , oh why am i fasting , PSYCHE ! :D . i think this day 3 is the point in fast when i start feeling silly , i think its cuz ive got less blood being sent to my gut for digestion and thusly more can flow into my brain making me more alert . i can already tell that im not gonna need much sleep tonite as usuall on a fast , let me check my direct tv program guide here , bingo = a classic movie on tonight on tcm - road to utopia , hope , crosby and dorothy lamour , so im set if cant sleep + olympics , snowboard cross race on tonight . :D

BRRRRR...I have family in WI and it sounds miserable.

Buckley, I was interested in hearing about you going thru the emotional stuff. I wonder if that is what I was experiencing but it seemed to early on day three to be going thru that.

Misslinda, thanks for asking. I do have support in my husband and a few others. The difficult time is when hubby is away during the day and I"m w/my 8 yr old. (I should edit to say we homeschool.) She can only comprehend so much and I only want to expose her to so much....I do have a few friends she can stay with in the afternoons. I probably should've toughed it out, but I wasn't ready to go thru it. I have been on a rollarcoaster for the last year especially. I think when I get a bit more stable I"ll be able to handle emotional detox ride! But next time maybe a bit longer, eh? I have been juicing some green but mostly fruits cause that is what I crave. However, I know from past experience that the green really really helps my moods especially. So I need to buckle down and add more greens. I didn't realize that spinach would have the tendancy to keep me awake! I'll have to experiement with that a bit. (Spinach as NoDoze?) I hate celery juiced, but I will eat it whole.

Okay Mich. Roman, I totally bought the first couple sentences. I was thinking "Poooor Guy :( " Well, now is your chance to really bone up on all the classic films. You can't beat "The Road" trio for goofiness. Or perhaps now is the time to finish War and Peace? Les Miserable? Wow, just think of all you can accomplish by not sleeping!

mommamia

I just wanted to ask quick (our lights are flickering....can you believe a rain storm in February?)

When you get sleepless on a fast is it a frustrating "wish I could sleep" sort of thing or do you feel productive? Do you get tired the next day or need to "catch up?" Is it a buzzed or wired feeling? Or just plain not sleepy what should I do?

Just wondering cause I want some of that!

michigan roman
02-17-2006, 01:13 PM
hi mommamia , for me i just need less sleep on a fast . first few times i was thinking i was tired because less sleep , but on ensuing fast i came to realize i dont need as much sleep because im saving energy because of not having to process foods , and still my cells are being fed fuel by my blood which is absorbing it from stored fats is how ive come to understand it from medical people . ps , that rain hit michigan last night and caused minor flooding and got pretty windy , there was lightning too , in fastuary , which was rare . good day :)

well its day 5 of water fast . feel a bit chilled but strength is good . my tongue isnt getting as white coated as it did on some of my previous 11 or so fast this past year so i think im getting closer to flushing out all my bodily pollution . went through my usuall 3rd to 4th day or so panic stage of being hungry but now ive regripped and am not desperate to eat . gi tract completely cleared out so any lymph fluid waste product can traverse through large intestine wall in order to then be flushed out so im drinking alot of room temp water , keeping water room temp so drinking it doesnt get me cold cuz it just got pretty cold today . so from what ive read this is the point once your tracts emptied out that you start a deep cellular level cleansing and also a serious healing of any injured cells . so im in my groove , and come summer when my garden starts producing im going to eat like a moose on raw organic plant matter :D

michigan roman

day 6 of water fast . nasty salty white coating on tongue when woke up , its like i drank alot of alchohol then ate like 5 bags of doritos late last night the taste is so bad on my tongue . i guess thats why when im fasting and juicing vegis always taste too salty and i always crave sweet fruit like apples , i would have to bet my cells are overloaded with sodium from my previous sad life time eating habit . but this fast im stronger and less prone to feeling lightheaded , so its getting alot easier the more fast i do , its just like getting in shape in exercising , you just cant jump right in and it comes easy . i think it may be appropriate for me to alkanalize my self because the sodium taste makes me believe im acidic .

day 7 , got too chilled yesterday because it was freezing here in michigan so had to juice some wheat grass . have been reading up on wheat grass juicing past 2 months and hearing alot of great claims so have started on it and really is showing good signs . one thing thats said is its a good detoxifier/bloodcleanser so thats why i decided to incorporate into my fasts . and just in case some one reads this that soaks in baths its said you pour wheat grass juice into your bath water for a whole bunch of reasons but i cant remember details cuz point didnt interest me . and one thing thats become apparent now that i have some fasting experience is that you get more confident and less weak and they become easy , at this point in earlier fast , like say if this was my 1st through 3rd fast , i would have had to eat . but now i feel great and am still lifting weights like usuall .

Ok -- so I have been absent ... and feeling bad. I only made it 5 days into the 10 day MC. It was a mixed experience for me, as I don't like to fail .... but I will try again. I was amazed that my body still functioned during the fast -- and I was more apt to be quiet and spend time listening to my body and my spirit. I do hope that continues .... and eating raw is so much easier now! Sorry for starting and not finishing --- and awesome job to all of you who are sticking with it!

Sorry I haven't been around...I was taking a computer fast :) Sometimes I'm on it waaaay to much.

Mich. Roman your fasting experiences are very encouraging. I learned a lot from your explanations about what happens during them. The wheatgrass info. was interesting too. I have read some about wheatgrass and am encouraged. Do you grow your own? (Hmmm...if I"m not mistaken that is the only way to do it? So I should as HOW do you grow your own...)

Meanwhile, Buckley you did great! I didn't even make it five days!! I can't remember if you said this was your first fast or not....but I think you did a great job and learned something. I don't think you can fail in a fast. Really. So until next time! Post here when you do, maybe I'll join again and get a bit further. I learned a lot this time through!! hi team buckley , just got my computer back running . the monitor burnt up and had to wait for hp to fedex me a new one . ive been wondering what everyone was doing . well im at i think 9 1/2 days and have been juicing and drinking blendered wheat grass for past say 3 days and im going to eat tonight . im in mode of doing a long series of fast anywhere over 5 days to under 10 (if can go longer easily shall ) , this was my think 5th fast since nov 1 . you guys hit the wall like i did in my early fast , its sure something you have to build up to . but theres no downside to it besides being grumpy to eat , so im going to keep working to master it and change my ways of eating for good . buckley you got farther than me my first fast , i only went 3 days so i bet your next one or so youll blow by me . mommamia , the wheat grass juice is very very easy to grow . just go to dollar store and get say 3 plastic dish pans dark in color to hide dirt smudges . put in 3" dirt , sprinkle in a wheat seed at a rate of every 1/4" , cover with quarter inch soil , water real good , water every 3 day , in 7 day theyll be 5" tall , cut off above dirt say 200 strands , fill blender half full with water , cut grass into half inch bits , add to blender blend at high speed for minute , let sit 5 minutes or more for all minerals to leach out into water , strain then drink , i dont strain cuz like chewing on grass . i get seeds at a bulk food store for $1.50 per pound which is alot of seeds so its a cheap vitamin , mineral , enzyme , chloryphyl , plus more source . and ive read that its a good detoxifyer . im definitely on it for long haul . oh ya , if get 3 dishpans dont start all at once , wait like 5 days to start the following one to keep supply going . goodday :)
