View Full Version : Fruit to Veggie Ratios (for Green Smoothies)

Peace to all,

I'm curious about the fruit to veggie ratio you all commonly use for your green smoothies. I've seen from Victoria's newsletter "Ode to Green Smoothies" that she normally does 60% fruit, 40% greens; and that this ratio is optimal for digestive purposes, etc. Is that pretty much what everyone does.?? Or something close to that.??

I've recently been simplifying mine to fewer greens, as i can feel my body getting more adapted to them. But i've always had a higher ratio of greens than fruit. What do you all normally do..??

The recommended ratio is 60% fruits and 40% greens. Don't cut down on the greens. When you get
"alanced" as Vkctoria put it you will need to drink or eat less greens.
Frederic states that we need to eat more fruits always. Hope this helps Joz

I try to do 50/50 as my body just LOVES greens; have a look at my "Supermans Breakfast Smoothie" post I did last night. It shows more of a 60/40 smoothie combo with ADDED green juice!

Since the "Ode to Green Smoothies", she actually has up'd her intake of greens in smoothies.

I'm currently reading her "Green For Life" book.

Great question.


I was pondering this myself as I am looking forward to ending this fasting mode.


I know the green smoothie craze is going on b/c of VB. But I honestly don't plan on following her recipe proportions. I will end up going by how much my body wants fruits vs veggies. No two bodies are alike therfore I cannot invison a recipe that tailors to everyone---imo. But i like the idea....

When I finally get to have them, I will report more accurately! :)

I add the greens first (kale or spinach) & then add the fruits until I like the taste. I like to vary the fruits each day.

I think the best thing is a TBSp of coconut oil...It helps w/energy. :D I ran out & can feel the difference.

I just can't get enough of my green smoothie. I fill the entire blender FULL of spinach! Then I add water and my blueberries and two bananas. I drink the whole darned thing, save for a few sippy cups for my son and a glass each for my other two children. I get very crabby when I can't have my green smoothie each day. Sometimes I will have it for dinner or dessert in the evenings as well. I just can't get enough of them! :)
