View Full Version : Diabetes - need your improved glucose numbers

I've been raw since June 2005 and know personally many benefits of raw.

Today an ex-coworker called and said he's been diagnosed with diabetes. He's very surprised but in a way relieved to know there is a reason why he has been feeling so terrible and losing weight. (He now weighs 160 something) He wanted the doctor to say he could change the glucose numbers by diet and exercise, but the doctor said, no, he felt he should really start some medicine. He put him on the next to lowest dose of some medication.

My friend called to ask if I knew of anything to help. He said his glucose was over 300 and then after fasting for the test it was only down to 245. The doctor feels it may be early type II but because of his age, he didn't want to diagnose that yet. He's in his early 30s.

I don't have diabetes nor do any family members so I don't know anything about it really. Can anybody give me some "before and after" glucose numbers showing what it was before raw and now? Anybody been healed from diabetes eating raw?

I've searched the banana tool, but didn't see any recent posts addressing this specifically. I thought if I could show him "evidence" of improvement with numbers (he has a master's degree and is really into facts being proven by numbers, etc.) he may really stand up and take notice. As would his doctor.

He has always had quite a sweet tooth and says he now has to give up his nightly habit of ice cream. He swears he eats 500 M&Ms a day also.

I will also search back through Alissa's book and copy relevant info.

Thank you to all who can help give my friend hope that changing his diet CAN make a difference without meds.

Hi Leigh. I wanted to give you the tollfree number to Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center. As it is free to call, it may be well worth your while. They are the ones currently doing a study and documentary program, where they have a group of people with type 2 insulin dependent diabetics staying there and adapting an all raw diet.

I realize that is a different form of diabetes, but as they are working with this, they may also have a welath of knowledge that would apply to your friend.
Their number is 1 866 394 2520

As far as numbers, "he eats 500 M&Ms a day also" wow. You may want to gently suggest to him that would be the best number to look at first.

My warmest wishes to you and your friend.
Bless your loving heart for wanting to help him. I hope you find some answers.

Warmly~
Carmel

I did the MC last May and went off all my meds and my blood work was great including blood sugar and AIC. Then I started eating more of a SAD diet and up it went but I still stayed off of the meds.

I finally got under control and went mostly raw in January and my blood sugar has consistently been about 30 points less than what it was. I still have about 20 more points before I am comfortable with knowing I won't have a problem.

I can tell you this, as soon as I start eating more SAD cooked food it goes up.

Hope this helps,

Divaitalia

Hi Carmel,

You're so sweet :)

**********************

Leigh,

I wanted to share one more personal testimony. A friend of mine has had juvenile diabetes for 25 years. He started eating 100% raw about 6 months ago. After 4 months his insulin was cut back by 3/4. I'm not sure where he's at now as I haven't asked him. I'll have to get an update.

Eating raw can take care of just about all health issues and/or improve them greatly!!!!

Thank you everyone and especially Helen! What great research, especially since it mentioned type I diabetes also. Peanut said Type I should not eat raw so I was worried I gave bad advice. Actually, I'm just passing on what I've found (and you found :) ) and will let him sort through it. I don't know enough about diabetes to even know how it affects your body so I wasn't sure raw was the answer. BUT, Raw is the answer for so many things, how could I not tell him about it? I hope he can incorporate more raw fruits and veggies without it hurting him in any way. I'll have him check out the links.

And, divaitalia, was your diabetes I or II?

Thanks again. I'll pass it on........ :)
