Nacho Cheese

I want to make Alissa's recipe but I don't have macadamia nuts....can I substitute this item for something else?

Oh, I think someone just told me last night that they didn't even add them and that it turned out fine.
I'm sure there is a replacement, but I'm horrible w/ which nuts can be replaced w/ which nuts!
I'd like to know too though!

Cashews or soaked sunflower seeds would probably work.

Another really good choice is pine nuts.

I mostly substitute macadamias with cashews in my cheese type recipes as here the macadamias are like gold dust, and it always works just fine, although I do save macadamias for things where the nut is the feature like the ice cream with macadamia nuts, as they do have that certain crunch that is needed.

I just started school on Monday, so I have hardly been on the board. I saw this post and started jumping up and down excitedly!

I made the cheese sauce last night for the broccoli and cheese. I was SOOO unhappy with the mac nuts that I had so I just did not use them... added a tad more sunflower seeds, but not too much and my cheese is the best I have ever made! I gobbled up broccoli and cheese tonight for supper! Just experiment cuz mine was awesome!!!!
