View Full Version : Flax seeds...any benefit from non-ground ones?

I know that flax seeds, unground, pass right through your system, providing some good insoluble fibre.
My question is, with the passing through as is, do we derive any benefit from them in their whole state? I know that we get all of the EFA goodness once they are ground.

Thanks!

There's good soluble fibre on the outside of the hull too which is great for you, and they have a laxative effect as well. It's a common recipe for people with constipation to take a spoon of flax soaked in water (or drink flax with lots of water).
