Does anyone know when pecans are in season? Maybe someone from Georgia or the South would know?

I have memories of getting them fresh at roadside stands where you can crack them in your hands they're so soft. Gotta get some!

If anyone knows for walnuts or almonds, I'd also love to know.

Black walnuts are late summer, I don't know about the others. My brother in law has a few of those trees and his law gets covered with nuts. I'll have to see if I can gather some up this year.

I've been getting fresh paper shell pecans at my local HFS (the owners have a tree) lately . . . so I would guess maybe late fall and winter? BTW, I'm in SW VA.

exurb,

I've ordered from Sunnyland Pecan Farm in the past. They keep the nuts in cold storage for freshness. Have never been disappointed. Fall or late summer is the nut season. I ordered shelled Black Walnuts and had to wait until after Dec. for those--but worth the wait.

Farmers Almanac should have something to show for when and what is available and usually for your region.

I just picked some from under a tree a few days ago. In Arkansas. :D
