I'm not sure if anyone here practises food combining...

I've been eating according to a food combining chart by David Klein for most of my time being raw (15 months now!).

Well, yesterday, I broke the rules and the results were disasterous!

Yesterday, I had a lighter lunch than usual - A salad with kale, pepers, cucumber, tomatoes, dulse, flax, sauerkraut with lemon juice. Normally, I would have also had some avocado and sprouts in there too. However, I didn't have any avocado or sprouts because I was too busy and forgot to go shopping on the weekend.

In the afternoon, I got really hungry and in quick succession ate:

almonds (more than a handful)
bananas (3)
clementines (about 5)

This may sound like a lot but I normally will eat about six bananas, 10 or more clementines (when in season) and more than a handful of almonds in a day - just not all at once.

A couple of hours later, I felt nauseous. Throughout the evening, I had the worst indigestion that I have ever had. Come to think of it...I don't think I've ever had indigestion. Traditionally, I've had an 'iron stomach'.

Has anyone here had similar negative gastric occurences?

Does anyone follow any food combining guidelines?

Hi Batman,

I'm not an expert or anything and I don't do food combining (I have read books on it though). I like to keep things simple and let my body tell me what it wants to eat.....always being organic as much as possible.

Since, you were following food combining for 15 months, (and Congrats. on that) maybe some how you did throw your system into a tizzy or you ate to fast. Hope this helps alittle and good luck on your raw adventure!

I have to follow food combining also------and sometimes wish i did not...I think the banana and then a more acidic fruit after that --following the nuts would be deathly to me too.. i have to soak and keep things really simple for my digestion--even bananas alone upset my stomach...!!!

sorry that happened but at least you now know!!!

I know it can be a pain but maybe take some digestive enzymes?? with an ill combined meal in the future?

i am pretty strict about food combining, especiallly now that i know how much better i feel when i combine properly. i think it's less important when you first go raw, but becomes more and more important as your body gets more efficient and less toxic.

i'm sorry to hear about your evening of discomfort :(
