Aasay, try the above threads. the "refried" beans recipe is sooo good. I made "lettuce" burritos for days.
Try hitting the "banana" to search for the tacos & potato chips. Hope that helps, Lana :)

I agree that Rawkinloc's refried bean recipe is the BEST I've ever eaten! I couldn't tell the difference from the real thing. I doctored them up a bit because I like them a bit more spicy. I added more onion and some garlic and a bit more spice. But they ROCKED. I still have some in the fridge.

I think you could add some sprouted grain to these to get them more of the consistency of "meat." I'm off to check out the link you gave on taco meat... buh bye!

Aasyah, if you can get your hands on the book "Raw Food Real World" by Sarma Melngailis and Matthew Kenney, they have a great recipe for soft corn tortillas with spicy refried "beans", avocado corn guacamole and tomato lime salsa, and "tart sour cream" to go on it. mmmm!

I made Rawkie's refried beans without the acv. (didn't have any) We had it with corn chip triangle thingies (looked like Rawkie's pic) and guacamole. It was great! Hubby just kept saying how good it would be on tacos with minced sweet onions, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and sour nut cream.

So Rawkie, when you get back we want you to know how good it is.

You have got to try Alissa's enchilda recipe! Oh so yum. The recipe is in her book.

For tacos try this, its so simple!
For taco "meat" pulse chop walnuts in the processor with mexican seasoning and whip up a batch of Alissa'ssour cream. Place taco "meat" in lettuce leaf with salsa, sour cream and whatever else you want such as guacamole and roll up. So easy and good!

Warmly~

I work at a mexican restraunt and this is the raw taco recipe I make there. I have found it to be surprisingly filling and quite good.
ingredients:
1/2 an avocado
3 rings green pepper
2 rings each red pepper and yellow pepper
1 slice of an onion
pico de gallo
salsa(optional)
lemon wedge
garlic powder
salt
2-3 pieces green leaf, red leaf, or romaine lettuce.

Dice 1 of the green pepper rings and half the onion. Mash the avocado and add in the diced veggies. Season to taste w/ the lemon, garlic, and salt.
Cut the rest of the pepper rings into long pieces.
To assemble: use the gaucomole as a base and spread onto the lettuce leaf. Add the pico, then the peppers and onion. Top with salsa, roll in the back and fold over the sides of the lettuce to create an lettuce burrito/taco with one open end. Enjoy!!
