How do you all clean the Teflex sheets for the dehydrator? Mine got pretty messy from making crackers and some carob Turtles. Can you submerge them in water?

Thanks,
Catherine

You sure can, just use a dish washing brush and clean them in warm soapy water.

I've left mine underwater for more than 30 minutes once, and they absorbed water. They are still discoloured from this. For regular washing it's totally fine though. My trick is the wet the surface, lay it out on the counter, and wipe down with a sponge or flat brush of some sort. Then rise again in water and flip. It works really well when they are cleaned on a solid surface and helps keep then from folding as well. It also means you can scrub hard if needed and all is fine.

I'm really exicted - we have agave arriving tomorrow and I'm going to make lemon, cashew coconut cookies! YAHHH!! They were my favourite purchased raw goodie in the US when I travelled there last.

Cheers,
Sheryl

I put mine in one big pile in the sink, fill with warm water, toss in some honey, and wash wish a cotton dish cloth, rinse under warm water, then place on the mesh sheets in the dehydrator and turn on for a few minutes to dry, I do not store mine in there, because we have critters in our house, so I roll them all up together and place in a drawer, this tends to keep the moupers (mice type critters, shrews, etc.) from nibbling the little teflex edges to bits.

also, probably not good for said moupers to eat teflex.

Thanks everyone.

Good tip about critters! We get mice too as we are in the middle of a redwood forest. I spent the weekend cleaning up the havoc caused by a mouse in my art room. He/She shredded paper and dried plants and nibbled on all kinds of paper leaving a real mess. Would hate to see my teflex sheets destroyed!
