Greetings,

I will be taking the Raw chef course this month, i am very nervous from excitement :-). I would like to know what was the next step(s) that you proceeded after completeing the course?.

I would like to open a raw cafe in my area, and share this with other raw foodies in my area, and help others on the pathway to vibrant health.

I am about to take the chef trainning course toooooooooooo. I am so excited I have lost sleep over it and its not untill March 4. From what I heard its going to be great you get to join Alissa's team and you get the benefites of having great people as co-workes and mentors. I heard from a very reliable source that everyone is just like the people on this site cool and helpful.

Yeah! That is so exciting. Are you taking the Chef Class from one of Alissa's wonderful Teachers, or are you taking the Teacher/Instructor/Chef class from Alissa herself?

I understand being so excited you lose sleepover it, lol, believe me! DO share your journies and experiences with us please! I am delighted for you all. :)

Lana,

I'm going in September! I still need to talk to Elaine though, she called today but I missed the call. My family and I will be driving there from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Lunawitch..Still have to convice Husband to take all 3 courses as he's afraid I'll lose interest in our boutique. I was planning on taking level 1 & 2 w/some ladies 5 hours away from me. I would LOVE to take the whole 5 day seminar. :) :) :)

Cool Lana! It's great to see people talk about taking classes from all around. What type of boutique do you have? It sounds as if you are doing great with that. :)

LunaWitch.. We have a handcrafted jewelry & fun "ethnic" clothing boutique. I've been in the biz for 17 years...but am becoming literally obsessed w/Raw. :p It has changed my life so much. I am trying to figure out a way to incorporate it into my shop-but I know the tourists who come up here...Not sure it would go over to big- not yet anyway..... :)

My site is listed on my profile...check it out & see what you think.

My dream is to teach "Raw" full time...through Alissa's program. I think it's a great way to make a living. I just have to keep the "balance" right now between my shop & "Raw". :)

Thank you all for your replies and encouragements :-)

Sweetgoddess,

I will be taking the course from a teacher in my area :-). I would also take the other courses, but out of my budget at this time :-(.

It would be a great joy to meet Alissa and experience her seminars/classes.

Lana! Oooooh, I LOVE the look of wire wrapped jewelry! I am especially loving your pendants!

Oh wow, you sound so much like I do concerning being obsessed with raw! My college courses have turned into torture now because all I want to do is talk and do raw food. Besides the environmental courses, all the other courses are so dull and boring. I just want to talk about raw food and our amazing and precious Earth! I so want to teach about raw foods full time also. Let's do it! :)

Aasyah and livingatthetop, I'm so excited for you two also! Your excitement is making me excited!

Thanks LunaWitch...Appreciate the compliments about our jewelry. Yes, I'm spending a lot of time "un-cooking" & on the board & reading books, etc. There is so much to learn about this lifestyle & I don't think you can ever stop the food creativity. I find it very "freeing" to be able to prepare w/no rules...& not worry about burning things-(big problem I used ot have).

enjoy the learning... :) :) :)

yeah this is so exciting! It is an amazing thing being able to do something you are passionate about. You are all going to create that! That is awesome. :)

hmmm Lana....is there some way to merge your interests? Hold raw classes at your boutique in the evenings or Sundays? Draw in the locals to your shop? Make a small section of your shop a raw area? Does it have 2 rooms? When you take ALissa's training you will be able to sell her book and dvd, and all the stuff on her rawfood store. Add that to classes, hmmm.....really the possibilities are endless. Whatcha think????

Warmly~

Carmel, thanks so much for the idea...I've already been working on it..I cannot hold classes as we are open 10-10pm/ 7 days a week in the Summer-Tons of work...

I think the books/dvds would sell. I am trying to figure a way to do both. I know once my customers see the changes in me- (well, I've lost 14 pounds this month) they will want to know what did I do? Plus-my skin is getting the Raw "glow...so, I just have to figure out merchandising. :)

Our shop is only 600 square ft-& is filled to the ceiling, but I want to share this new lifestyle. :)

As far as the "locals" go- no offense to them-but "healthy eating is the last thing on their mind. I travel to a co-op about 45 minutes away & I'm now known as the "Raw" food lady...I was thinking that would be the route to take..They have table/chairs/cafe-perfect set-up. These are some ideas I'm working on, but I may have to wait until fall, until then I am referring poeple to the site. :)

Hi Aasyah!

Hope you enjoy your class and are off on new and exciting raw ventures.

Regarding your possible cafe, you may want to read an article I wrote for Vegetarian Resource Group on the decision to open a restaurant. It's at http://www.vrg.org/journal/vj2004issue1/vj2004issue1restaurant.htm. I found a related piece at http://www.vrg.org/journal/vj2003issue3/vj2003issue3vegaction.htm.

I don't work in restaurant consulting, but I hope these two pieces give you some practical tips to make your dream a success or avoid something that may turn into a drain.

Best wishes!
