I have been raw for 21 days and in the last 4 days I have started to gain weight. Why is that? I am going raw for reasons other than weight loss, but losing weight is very important to me and is something I need to do. I am scared that I am going to gain all the weight I have lost so far...17 lbs. Also, am I doing something wrong that I have only lost 17 lbs. I have read that some people lost 20-30 in the first 2 weeks. I eat mostly fruit and salads and my dressing is Braggs apple cider vinegar, raw honey and liquid aminos. There is no fat except for the half of avacado and 4 or 5 almonds. Is that too much? In any case, if anyone can spot what I am doing wrong please let me know...thanks in advance :)

wow. I am confused. You have lost 17 pounds in 21 days and wonder if you are doing something wrong? NOOOOOO That is fabulous. What is there to fear in that??
I am very proud of you. I hope you will soon feel elated because that is incredible.
As far as the fat--that is not enough fat. Raw plant fat contains the enzyme lipase which breaks down fat. You need lipase!
There is one thing I see that you can cut from your diet----fear! You are eating living, energy filled, enzyme loaded, nutrient rich food. Dance with delight because there is nothing to fear in that at all. You are gifting your body and self and I am thrilled for you! :)
Way to go!
Warmly~

i agree with the previous positive responses, you are doing fabulous!! don't compare yourself to people losing 20 or 30 pounds in two weeks - i think weight loss like that really only happens when you have a whole lot of weight to lose and you go on a juice fast.
stay positive, you're doing great!

Try a very simple, low fat RAW approach. Lots of fruits at least 8-10 and then fill in with veggies when hungry. No avo's, no oil, no nuts or seeds, no complicated recipes. Extra water and at least an hour of exercise a day. That should shake things up enough to get the weight loss on the move again. You don't have to stay this strict forever but it will shake things loose. I have been doing this and have lost 3lbs in the last 4 days. :D
You sound like you are doing great, keep it up. :D

I lost 11 pounds the first 10 days and nothing and it is now day 20. I gained a pound yesterday! I to am wondering what is going on... I am eating mostly veggies. A banana berry smoothy for breakfast some days but mostly veggies. For 8 days, I have lost nothing and have now gained a pound... not TOM either...

You guys that mentioned weight gain need to start eating fat. Fat is important in the body and if you don't eat it for awhile, your body is going to start thinking that it isn't going to get any fat for a loooong time, so it's going to start holding on to any little bit of fat that you feed it because it doesn't want you to run out, in a sense.

Everyone is different, when I eat fat my weight loss slows and stops. When I eat lots of cleansing lower Glycemic fruits at least 10 a day I loose up to a pound a day. People that really struggle with weight issues or have been over weight most of their lifes have a real problem with fat and hight sweet fruits in their diets. We are finding this out at Raw Boot Camp, as we are all comparing notes after challenges... like this week is Snack Out week and we are finding that eating the way I mentioned is having great success with everyone in boot camp.

Exercise will stimulate the weight loss too. Are you working out? Walking?

I really dont understand it. Honestly!
I just don't get worrying about 1 or 2 pounds on the scale. That means nothing!
That could be anything from the humidty level in your environment to waste sitting in your intestinal tract or colon to....you name it. It doesnt mean oh my gosh something is wrong with my raw diet!
It truly puzzles me. None of us thought that while eating crap food and ganing weight. Now that we are treating our bodies in the best possible manner, we panic if we don't lose a pound a day. If you KNOW you are feeding yourself the best possible nutrition Nature provides, then what do the numbers on the scale mean or say? How do they take away from the fact you are eating living food, alive, cleansing repairing, nurturing food?!
What are we thinking? Where does this come from?
amazed~

sweetgoddess,
thank you! you seem to be one of the only ones addressing the fact that people are getting upset for only losing 10 pounds in like 2 weeks or less. i think 2 pounds a week would get me really excited. :)
people, please stop focusing on the weight. if you do, you will only get discouraged and more likely to quit. that's not what raw is about. this is not some get skinny quick gimmic. it's about health and feeling good. sure, you will lose weight, but maybe not 50 pounds in three weeks. geez, give it some time. you're doing great. the weight loss will happen. throw your scale away.
peace. :)

I agree that 1-4 pounds don't really mean much - depending on your monthly cycle, eaten food weight, water, etc. it can change even several pounds a day.
I do think that binges stop weight loss even if they are all raw. I just stopped eating after nine at night(my favorite time to binge), and before 10 or 11 in the morning and lost 5 more pounds in a week - my pants are too big again!

Sweetgoddess,
I want to thank you. I did lose sight as to why I went raw in the first place...to cleanse my body and start eating a more natural diet. 17lbs is great, I think I just go caught up in the weight loss that I forgot why I started this in the first place. When the weight started dropping I was beyond happy, so then I only focused on losing weight but I forgot about all the other amazing benefits I am having. I have more energy, my face cleared up, I am happy and never stressing out and my knee problem has gone away and I always seem to feel light (hard to explain feeling light, but I do). Thank you to all that replied, I feel much better now. I know that what I am doing is great for me. For 26 years I put bad things into my body, it will take more than 21 days to get it out. Thank you all :)
