Well, first of all, don't use any products with mineral oil. Which is exactly what baby oil is. Mineral oil is terrible for the skin. My 2 year old had terrible skin problems and then I came across Arbonne baby care. His skin is fine now. I loved the products so much that I became a consultant, but I HIGHLY recommend Arbonne's ABC line for babies and people with sensitive skin. I would recommend their baby oil and lotion for his face. (no mineral oil in the baby oil). All of their products are ph correct, botanically based, no mineral oil and made with NO animal products or by-products. Feel free to check out arbonne.com and if you want to order, you can use my id# to order. Its 15679006. Let me know if I help you further.....

Arbonne is available in the U.S and Canada. You might want to try pure aloe vera, if you have a plant at home, just cut open a leaf and put some of the juice on his face. You can find pure aloe in health stores too. Its very soothing and will soak right into the skin. Whatever you do, stay away from over-the-counter products....they contain all sorts of chemicals and additives that do absolutely no good for our skin...or that sweet baby.

if you are breastfeeding you can express some of your breast milk and apply it topically to his irritated skin. read this in mothering magazine, not this current issue but the previous one. breast milk is anti-biotc, anti-microbial, anti-viral and i'm guessing anti-inflamatory, which is why it would work well on the skin. when my friend's baby was in the hospital, her baby had a rash and the nurse told her to do this, it works!
good luck
