I just got back from a late night visit w/the vet. My toy poodle "Casey Marie" has had some intestinal troubles for a few days now. :( They are doing bloodwork to check for something serious, but we think it is the equivilant of adult "Irritable Bowel Syndrome." We don't think it is serious, as she is still very active-even at 12 1/2 years of age.
He wants me to be sure to give her eye droppers of water & I was thinking maybe coconut water would be even better. She has had some "runs" ( please excuse the grossness.)..& I think this would be good for her electrolytes.
Has anyone tried coconut water for their pets? Just curious???

I haven't tried coconut water for pets, but I have heard of giving them coconut oil and it supposedly helps hairballs. I have given my roomate's kitty some coconut oil and she loved it.
I don't think it would hurt her. But I'm not a vet either.

Monkeys love it. (The coconuts and water.)
A lot of families in Thailand who pick the coconuts have pet monkeys who toss the baby coconuts down to the ground for them when they are not ripe enough to fall on their own.

I did a research paper on coconut water in college and i found out that people actuly used it for administering ivs. . i know for a fact that it is loaded with electrolites. i Have no idea if it will substantially hep your marie but it wont hurt and if shes dehydrated she wont be anymore.
I hope it helps

Livingatthetop...I read that they used coconut water for IV's during WW11 & still do in some areas of the world.
