Just received a new order from "OXO", my favorite kitchen gadget maker.
I received a fruit corer. Not your "el-cheap-o" from the grocery store either. This is a nice one.
I also received my salt shaker. This is the most awesome salt shaker. It is perfect for Celtic Sea Salt. You can use it to add salt to a recipe with the "pour" option. You then have a "shake" option with large holes (great for Celtic Sea Salt, even the fine ground is still coarse in comparison to SAD salt). It also has a "sprinkle" option, but I doubt I will use that, that would be more geared towards SAD salt that is real fine ground.

Samuel, Have you used your new fruit corer? Looks like a very sturdy tool.
Love the celtic salt shaker ...very stylish../but contemporary & functional ..I ordered the Mango pitter from OXO..they were so quick with delivery time..Thanks for letting us all know about OXO. :)

lanasq, the corer is really heavy duty. It works great, I tried it on some apples and some pears.
The salt shaker is great because it has the large holes needed for Celtic Sea Salt (even fine ground Celtic Sea Salt is more coarse than SAD table salt).
I was going to buy an tool to core a pineapple, but I decided not to for a few reasons. First reason, when I juice the core or use the vita-mix, I can toss in the pineapple core an all. Secondly, there is a lot of waste when you use the pineapple corer. The next time you are at the grocery store, you can see for yourself, you get much less pineapple when you let them core it. I think part of the raw food diet is the ability to work with whole foods. I prefer my fruits and vegetables untouched. If I buy carrots, I want the whole carrot, I don't want someone to cut the top off or someone to peel them into little baby carrots, I want the whole thing. I will do any cutting myself.

Samuel, I don't core my pineapple either & use it all for my morning smoothies. I've never had a problem with the core, even w/my cheap blender. You are right in the waste that goes into cored pineapple at the grocery store plus, I like the look of the whole fruit sitting on my counter.
