Anyone here from Ocala, Florida? I'll be moving there next week & need advice on where to buy organic fruits & vegetables, or maybe some farmer's markets in the area. I'm also in need of finding raw food preparation classes. Any recommendations would be appreciated. thanks :)

I found this on the Internet. Don’t know that it actually exists. The one listed nearest to me does not exist.

Marion County Farmers' Market
Downtown Square
Ocala, FL 34470
Fridays, 8am - 2pm
Contact Information
Mark Shuffitt
(352)620-3440

I’ve heard this one in Gainesville is nice. www.unionstreetfarmersmkt.com (http://www.unionstreetfarmersmkt.com/). It’s not far north of Ocala, maybe 30 miles.

Here is a Farmer's Market Locator (http://www.organicconsumers.org/linkpage.cfm?memid=4165) and a Farm Finder (http://www.localharvest.org/).

There is a Mother Earth HFS in Ocala with some raw bulk items and organic produce. The nearest Whole Foods would be either Tampa or Winter Garden, both a good distance away.

Hope this helps,

If your moving to Ocala you must have horses ?? Spent a lot of my youth showing horses in Ocala !

Good luck in your search for raw and try this link to help locate some places.

Doe & MBF, thanks for the info. I'll check out those sites.

MBF, my husband loves horses, bets on them all the time. We chose Ocala because of the rolling hills & beautiful countryside. Cows on one side of the road & horses on the other. I'm looking forward to exploring the farmer's markets there. I'm hoping to go 100% raw after we move. My appliances are all packed away.

Brightest Blessings

Hi,
I live in the orlando area (Apopka) but I travel to work in Tavares which is close to Ocalla sort of, anyhow there is a organic co op on my way to work, they have classes on Saturday mornings. and often do raw classes. They are very nice and just opened a month ago. They are off Old 441, in Eustsis which is 2 miles from Mt Dora and 1 mile from Tavares. It's a small cozy place near a wine tasting store. I hope this helps.
Good luck! :p

Hey Kennym02,

Good Luck with your move to Ocala! You sound so excited! What do you do for a living if I may ask that you chose Ocala? We are self-employed and in a few years looking to move somewhere else also!

Take Care,

Pansy

:) Thanks, Kristen, an organic co-op would be just perfect. I'll check it out.

Pansy, we're retired & chose Ocala to get away from the constant oppressive heat of south Florida. Ocala gets a little cooler for a little longer. Or so we've been told.
