Hey yall..

I am just beginning my raw food journey, and I just recieved a juicer and food dehydrator for X-Mas! Now I'm looking to invest in a high-speed blender and a food processor. I know Vita-Mix is the best brand out there, but spending $400 on a blender is just not in my budget. Can anyone suggest a less expensive (yet quality high-speed) blender?? Also, I'm looking for a food processor...

Any input would be greatly appreciated.. thanks! :D

I am also interested to hear. I am also looking for a quieter but high powered juicer.

I got my food processor and my blender from Wal-mart.

They are both the General Electric brands, fairly inexpensive. I was concerned they might not hold up to the job, but they have both been fantastic.

I just got a blender for Christmas as I burnt mine out! Let me go check the brand..it's a Black & Decker crush master and works great so far! I'm sure as summer comes I'll put it to the real test with frozen bananas and ice! That is what burns the motor so fast for me.
My food processor is Hamilton Beach 11 cup and I LOVE it! It works great and I have not had a problem with it and it fits so much food in there!

The food processor was bought at WalMart and the blender at K-Mart...K-Mart was not my first choice to buy that blender at, but I wanted a glass thingie (ugh can't think of what it's called) and so I had to upgrade. My mom didn't keep the receipt, just gave me the gift receipt and I could not get my money back, so I had to exhange for something there! Could have gotten it cheaper at WalMart I'm sure.

MistyMountain,

Have you checked out the thrift stores? How many people buy kitchen gadgets and then get rid of them because they NEVER use them? HMMMMM?
My roomate has gotten perfect working appliances from there for 3-8 dollars.

Check it out!

I purchased a L'Equip Model 228, which cost $129.00.
I feel it is just one step under Vita-mix.
My FP is a Cuisinart, I got it online for $99.00.
I'm very happy with both. :)

Hi, I bought my FP at Bed Bath and Beyond, it was $99.00, but with the 20% off coupons they send all the time, It was only $79.00, same price I saw offered online, and no shipping charges. :)

I bought the moderate priced Cuisinart Blender & a Food Processor on sale at BB & B...happy.

I was looking into that one, but it has some negative reviews on epinions.com.. people stated that it's not very powerful.. it can't handle crushing ice, etc. what has your experience with it been like?

I paid $60 for the blender/FP duo from cuisinart at BB&B. The FP is VERY small, so I wouldn't recommend if you think you'll need something that'll make more than 3 cups pretty often (sometimes I have to split the recipe in half). Considering the last blender I used was very old and not in good working condition, I love this thing. However, I have noticed that in the FP when I am making Alissa's date nut torte, that it comes out quite warm, so I think it's been overheating it. :(

Anyways, I think it's a good place to start out, maybe not as something permanent though.

I swear you all, the 11 cup food processor that I got really works well and there is always plenty of room for anything I make. I've never had to do it in batches!
I believe it was $79.99 at WalMart! To me well worth it and I've never ever had a problem with it bogging down.

I was just at Costco (WA.) and I noticed they had a great 11 cup Cuisinart for just over $100 and a good brand blender. I dont remember the exact $$ but I noticed they were VERY VERY well priced. :p

Cheers,
