Today is day one of a juice fast. Anyone want to join me? I'd love to have some company/accountability!

How long will you be fasting. I've been toying with the idea for some time now...maybe now might be the time!
01-30-2006, 07:56 AM
At least 7 days.
You will see in my other thread that I would like to go longer, but not sure of safety and what not.
I would LOVE to have you for an accountability partner. That would be soooooo cool!

Ok, I think I will join you! AHHHH...In all honesty, I've never successfully fasted for more than 3 days so this will definitely be a challenge. I will set a goal for 5 days and go from there. Only thing I as ask is this...can we do our daily "accountability-thing" via emails rather than openly here?
You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

Me me( as i jump up and down like a two stomping the floor) I want to join in two. Ok email address is email@example.com

Now, I don't want to make things more difficult for any and all who join...the whole "not wanting to post here thing" is moreso for my own preference. Even if you ladies want to check in daily HERE and I just send emails to you...that would even work.
However you want to do it...but I would just prefer keeping my own documentation kinda private and only between those of us doing the fasting, if that makes any sense at all. :o

That is why I post me email address...I concur

Glad to have you all on board. I will be posting my fasting experience here and if anyone wants to email instead just pop one off to me and we can do that too!
Looking forward to fasting with you all!

Spirit, you sound like me when it comes to day three! But we can do it!!
Missionarymamato5, I got your email yesterday and I sent out an email to everyone who posted here on yesterday.
But I will just check in here and say how I'm doing, etc.
Day two and doing great! I had a headache yesterday, but not today...today my body just kinda has that "detoxy" feeling to it kinda like a dull body ache. But other than that, I'm resting when I can and drinking my juice, water and green smoothies. I had mentioned in my email that for the first 1-3 days I will incorporate green smoothies to help me over this hump and then try to wean off of them and on to just juice and water. So far so good...today I did have smoothie once, but have been drinking mainly juice and water.
I am also documenting my intake (though not amounts) in my journal area as well. Glad to hear the two of you are still in and doing good!

Ok so I guess today is the day! We CAN do this!
This morning I made up all my juice to last me through mst of the day. That way if I get to a point where I need something I have it on hand. This actually makes things much easier on me. My children all took turns putting my carrots through the juicer and had so much fun. I took pictures of them all diong it. Even my 2 year old had fun helping me juice the carrots and apples.
So today I have a headache a bit. Also I always get this coated tongue feeling and a bad taste in my mouth around day 2 that has, in the past, lasted right through til day 6 or 7. I am wondering if it will go away after that. I guess I shall see.
I have decided that my goal is to fast for the entire month of February.
Anyways my first 2 days have been good.
I'll post more tomorrow after day 3 is finished!

Glad you two are still doing well! I'm ok this morning except for a mild headache. I have a question for you about what kind of juice you're drinking. I worry about variety i.e. do I need to drink juice from a lot of different fruits and veggies or should I just stick to the juices I like. I'm a carrot juice person. I've loved carrot juice since I was a little girl and honestly I could fast and drink only carrot juice and not want any other type. I force myself to add other juices because I feel like I need a variety for cleansing, nutrients, etc. So my question is do you drink a variety or do you just stick to a couple things you like? Do you think I should be making an effort to add other things or should i just listen to my body which is telling me it only wants carrot juice? I'm thinking that maybe I'll begin craving other juices the longer I fast, but I've never made it past day 3, so I don't know.
You can email your replies if you'd like. Thanks in advance! :)

I messed up and ate something yesterday. I am going to eventually pick it back up though (maybe next week or starting this weekend) because I was beginning to enjoy the lighter feeling. But (and this is no excuse) I got caught in a partial storm yesterday while out walking with my son and when I got back, the last thing on my mind was juice and I just ate something.
But to answer your question, Spirit, I "try" to do a variety, but I don't like all kinds of juice either. So, I change it up from orange juice using the citrus juicer to an apple/carrot/celery/cucumber juice and if I get tired of drinking sweet juices, I'll do a veggie with maybe a little apple to help it along.

Lauradee, you could blend stuff in the blender with some water and then strain through a nutmilk bag.

Well so far everything is going good.
I had a bit of a sore throat this morning but that is better now.
Last night I was feeding our 14 month old an avacado for her supper and it was just perfect! I have been having trouble with avacadoes lately too being too ripe or not ripe enough and this one looked soooooo good!
Hope everyone else is diong alright!
Rawk, no big deal, just pick up again when ever you are ready!

Edited to Add: I forgot to tell you two thanks for the replies to my question about the carrot juice thing. Thanks!
Missionarymamato5, sounds like you're really motivated! All month! Wow! I have to take it a day at a time. Committing to an entire month would just make me anxious then I wouldn't last 5 minutes without a binge. LOL. I'm going to try to stay on board with you as long as I can. I find that checking in and being accountable on this thread each day really helps. I really don't have any other support trying to stay raw, let alone fasting.
I made it through day 3 for the first time ever! I woke up to go to the bathroom at about 2:30 this morning and wanted to eat something so badly, but I drank a glass of apple juice instead and went back to sleep. I'm so proud! I don't know if this has anything to do with the fast, but I had such a restful sleep last night. I only woke up that one time when I had the apple juice, but I felt so well rested this morning that I actually got out of bed 10 minutes before my alarm rang. I usually get up 20-30 minutes after the alarm first rings.
So far I've done well today. I can't believe day 4 is almost over! I've been too lazy to make juice today, so I've only had water and enzymes. I dread cleaning my juicer. If someone ever invents a self-cleaning juicer, I'll be the first in line to buy it. :p I'm surprised at how well I feel today. I thought I'd be lethargic and dying for food if I ever fasted for four days, but other than the same mild headache from yesterday i feel fine. The headache seems to come and go. It was worse toward the middle of the day when I'm used to having a large meal. My yoga class is tomorrow morning and I have to admit I'm a little anxious about how fasting will affect me during the class. I'm hoping I'll feel lighter and get through it with ease, but I'm worried I'll feel weak and have a hard time holding poses. We'll see!
Rawkinlocs don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll fast again especially since you enjoyed feeling lighter. ;)

Spirit, I am glad to hear that you are doing well!! Way to go.
I have found that if I make all my juice for the day in the morning it makes my life much much easier. As a matter of fact I have had my children helping me make the juice. It is so cute!! They all want to make it for me. SO while they are juicing I can do other things. But really making it all (or at least a couple) at once is much easier on me. Then when I want something it is right there waiting for me. This really cuts back on temptation for me. I still cook meals for my family so it is very helpful this way. I simply put them into canning jars right up to the top so that no air can get into them and store them in the fridge.
Well today should be very interesting for me. Our well went dry and now we don't have any water. So today I am only drinking water (we have jugs of drinking water) since I can't clean my juicer. I have never done a water fast, not even for one day. I hope we get some water soon, or I might have to go over to a friends house to make some juice!
I started a juice fast today 1/3 I am planning to go for 10 days. My e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org. The longest I have gone is 7 days...any of you like to communicate here or e-mail would appreciate it!!! Edie ;)

Well I did it! I had an all water day yesterday! I am very proud of myself, I've never done that before. So after just having water all day yesterday juice is going to seem like a real trea for me today!
Welcome edie! Looking forward to fasting with you!
Spirit, hope everything is going good with you!
Have a great day!
Congrats on your water day! :)
