Maitake Mushroom like CHICKEN

I over heard a lady at the health food store talking to the produce boy. She explained to him that a friend of hers said MAITAKE mushroom when cooked taste like chicken and even has similar texture.

This is after cooking......so I am wondering if anyone has tried preparing it in dehydrated form and in any recipe? Does it taste like chicken if you dehydrated it.

If you have a recipe, would love to have it.

I think in the book "Eating without Heating" there is a soup recipe that you use the mushrooms (as well as potato) soaked and they say it is just like chicken - I hve never tried it but have been thinking I should have a go

Marinate the mushrooms in poultry seasoning and olive oil. Then place in your dehydrator for a few hours to give it more of a cooked like texture. You can then add these mushroom pieces that taste like poultry to any raw recipe you wish.
