Hey all!

I was thinking that it would be great if we all posted our favorite green smoothie recipes here! Green smoothies are such an excellent meal on so many levels, but sometimes its easy to get in a rut and not be able to come up with new combinations.

I'll start. Here are some of my favorites:

pink lady apples
d'anjou pears
strawberries
kale

pear
raspberry
kale or dandelion greens

mango
banana
curly endive

banana
blueberry
spinach

What are some of your favorites??? =)

karenisraw,

I get dandelion from my grocery store. Safeway and Albertson's usually carries it. I also found some at a farmer's market and a little produce store.
if all else fails...go to your yard :p :D

I buy them at whole foods, or sometimes the smaller produce markets have them (usually only about 6 months of the year though (winter - spring).)

A pear
A mango
dandelion greens or kale
spinach or mild salad mix
2 cups filtered water

40% fruit to 60% greens

Every morning after a big glass of lemon water -- yummy!

Hint -- go easy on mustard greens: quite a bite (SamuelWilson would probably add a Thai red pepper to this)

Really glad to see this thread. I made a green smoothie for the first time this morning. I used what I had on hand so it contained:

Organic spring green mix (prob. 1/2 lb. plus)
Two frozen bananas
Eight frozen strawberries
8 oz. fresh squeezed oj
8 oz. water

The first couple tastes tasted kind of sweet but had a bit of a bitter bite, which seemed to lessen as I drank it. Felt very much better afterward. Took me this many months to try them. Looking forward to trying some of your posted favorites.

One of the great benefits, in addition to the greens, is the whole fiber of all the fruits/veggies you put in. Next time, you might add the whole orange rather than only the juice. I do this when I use oranges and it's great.

RawTruth,

Do you simply peel the orange skin off and toss it in? I ask because I thought the orange skin was not digestable.

Can't believe it took so long for me to try these--they are so great!

No, I don't use the skin. I peel the oranges and toss the fruit in. Oh ... you might try to bananas fresh, also. Well, unless you need to have your smoothies really cold. (We call 'em smoothies even though they're not like those frozen things they sell at the mall!)
