I'd love to hear what everyone's favorite dessert recipes are!
I have almost all raw food books on the market (with Alissa's always being my most favorite!) so a book title and page number is fine.
Although I've tried dozens of main dishes, raw soups, and side dishes I just don't seem to like any of them. I've made dozens of batches of flax seed crackers only to end up throwing them out. But I always seem to love the raw desserts so I've decided it is "dessert for dinner" for me from here on out! Ha!
I drink a lot of fresh juices and green smoothies all day long so dinner is the one meal I've been a bit lost on. With the raw lifestyle though dessert isn't off limits at all so I plan to enjoy my new menu idea.
Any and all suggestions would be most appreciated, some of my favorite recipes so far are Alissa's Date-Nut Torte with raspberries, Alissa's Black Forest Cake (the pudding layer), her Carrot Cake and Pecan Pie too.
Thank you for your help... this will help me to stay 100% raw as dinner was the only time of day I'd cave and give into cooked vegan foods. I think I've solved my problem after 3 years of a high raw diet!

The Lemon Poppy Seed Cake in Renee Underkoffers book is the best raw cake I've ever had! Magnificent!! She uses sprouted, dehydrated buckwheat to give it a more cake texture (dense) instead of soft like many raw cakes. And the lemon is divine!

:D
Sheryl, I'm a lemon lover. Could you please post that recipe for lemon Poppy cake. They have lemon poppy cookies in my health food store but they are baked and high in calories.
Thanks.

I really like Alissa's Blueberry cheescake. I am not big into deserts, but if I have a craving, thats what I want. I love the Date Nut Torte also.
I just ordered David Wolfe's & Shazzie's new book "Naked Chocolate." It should be here any day now so I can't wait to try some of the recipes. From what I've heard, the cocao regins supreme...raising endorphins, mega- antioxidants, aphrodeshiac, etc...I'm ready for a wild ride on the dark-side... :p :p :p LOL

I had a chocolate cake from a raw restaurant in Toronto Canada. It was the best I've ever had raw or cooked. I'm waiting now for our shipment of cacao, cacao butter and agave so I can try it out. I'll post a recipe once I perfect it to my liking!! It was dense and chocolate... amazing!
Blessed, I'd love to help, but don't feel comfortable with publishing someone else's recipe online without permission. That's the rule they have here for Alissa's recipes isn't it? Her book is called "Living Cuisine, The Art and Spirit of Raw Foods". Hope you understand.
Cheers,
Sheryl

A great great cookie is the Caramel Coconut cookie in Renee's book, also. There was a thread about it last spring or summer and I swear everyone on the forum at that time tried them and loved them.
Also, the brownie recipe in Brigitte Mars' book Rawsome! is really good.

My favorite is the "ammended" version of Alissa's cheesecake when I tired to make it and messed up.
the filling part, I added a bunch of strawberries and then froze the mixture. It came out like a thick creamy yogurt.
I can't wait to make it again after I finish fasting.

Raw Truth, I just spent quite a while searching & reading the cocao threads of past. I do not think I could handle that kind of stimulant, but I think the book will be great to use & make recipes subbing carob powder, etc. Thanks for the advice. :o

I can eat a whole banana cream pie all by myself... :::Laughing:::
Reminds me of those banana-vanilla wafer puddings my grannie used to make for thanksgiving.

Raw Truth- I spend hours on the net right now, as I have the time to spend to research & learn from others. This site is so addicting-but in a good way. We all learn & grow from each other. :)
For those of you who do not know- the search button is the Banana at the top. It helps w/quick questions and answers. :o

Lots of great ideas, thank you everyone for sharing!
I've got to try Jocelyn's brownies, thank you Misslinda for posting the link, the pictures look delicious. And banana creme pie is next on my list to make, thank you Rowan Carvalho. I haven't made Cheezecake for a while so another great idea there! And RawTruth, I do love those yummy Caramel Coconut cookies and have some in the freezer right now, problem is to defrost them before I want them or break a tooth trying to eat a frozen one! Ha!
And I did make Alissa's Strawberry Crepes as it has been a while since I've had them. Always a favorite and everyone else I've served them to loves them. Plus all that yummy fruit leather to eat too! I put a piece of banana in the fruit leather and a sprinkle of cinnamon, and roll it up... yum!
Keep them coming, anymore dessert ideas out there I'm not thinking of?? Thank you!

I have a cheesecake in the freezer right now I'll be able to try it in a couple of hours. That may end up being a favorite, too.

And RawTruth, I do love those yummy Caramel Coconut cookies and have some in the freezer right now, problem is to defrost them before I want them or break a tooth trying to eat a frozen one! Ha!Wow -- they last long enough to have to freeze them in your house? LOL. Actually, I've had them hanging around for a week or so without even refrigerating. Though, usually, when I've made them, they're gone pretty quick.
Dessert ideas, hmmmm. Well, do you make the Orgasmic Butter Pecan Softserve Icecream?

Ah yes RawTruth... I do love that Orgasmic Butter Pecan Softserve Icecream! And it is really good served with those Caramel Coconut Cookies, just dip the cookies into the ice cream and enjoy!
So this morning I made SamuelWilson's Orange Julius, which is cantaloupe and orange juice and a sweetener (I use dates). But this will be long gone before dinner time!
I also made Alissa's Blueberry Cheezecake (1/2 recipe and no crust) and used orange juice in place of the water. This is delicious and I keep it in the freezer and cut pieces as I want it. Very very good!
And I made Alissa's Raspberry Banana Cream Pudding (pie) without the crust. I use a lot less pine nuts as I find them way too rich in the amount called for in the recipe. This is so good and rich, the raspberry/banana combination is delicious.
You know what I am having for dinner tonight, if I can wait that long! And this is working out very well, I may have found the key to staying raw at my most difficult time of the day!

A while back someone posted a recipe for a German chocolate cake, who ever it was a big thank you from me, I made it and loved it, and to date its been my favourite desert, sometimes I just have a slice instead of a main meal and that's enough for me.

I was just typing the recipe out then I realized I am an idiot cos I called it German chocolate cake and its actually German chocolate pie, I did a search to see and yep its there under German chocolate pie, sorry about that, but once you make it you ll love it, I tweaked a few things in it to make it to my tastes and I couldn't get a couple of things but it was still really really good.
( the recipe isnt actually there, but a link to the site where it is, and a picture)
good luck
