I'm a 35-yr-old mother of 2 who's pretty much eaten junk her whole life, except for 2 brief periods of vegetarianism. My 2 New Year resolutions were to eliminate sugar and to learn to feed my family better. Cutting sugar out led me to learn about gluten-free/dairy-free diet. Then my breastfeeding baby developed thrush (probably from all the sugar I'd been eating previously), and I learned about the "yeast connection", Eventually, this all led me to raw food.
Currently, I'm not vegan--or even vegetarian--but I feel that is the next logical step in this evolution.
I am 100% sugar and wheat-free, and the difference is enormous. I've never felt better, and things I thought were inherent physical/personality traits (fatigue, irritability, bloating, gas, sleepiness), turn out to be caused by the foods I ate. So cool. I'm glad I stumbled on this site. Thanx!

Sassafrass,

If you feel great so far, just wait till you try 100% raw. When I tried it, within 24 hours the hairs on top of my head practically stood straight up, I felt so good. I too, started eliminating things like dairy, gluten, meat, etc. until I ended up being a raw vegan. I feel better than in my whole life. Lucky for me, I don't have any physical problems so I feel like I got here in time to prevent anything.

Welcome,

I'm new too. I used to have an obsession with sugar. Cookie dough, brownie mix, Ben & Jerry's. I can't believe that I've been doing that to my body all these 38 years.

Please keep in touch and let me know how you're doing.

Good Luck on your Journey.
