Well, this is day #21 raw. It has become second nature to me... My weight loss has really slowed, though.

Actually, it has stopped. For the past week I have stayed the same.

I am not too worried because I know this can happen, but I am wondering if maybe I am eating too many nuts.

I crave them constantly, though.

Should I try giving them up for a week, like a no-nut fast? I don't like feeling so dependent on them, it's not just the weight-loss thing.

Before I was raw I didn't care a thing about nuts. Kind of odd...

I have heard from some that if you eat 100% raw you should be able to eat all the nuts you want, but I am thinking this might not be true for me and my body. Or maybe my body is telling me I don't need them so much anymore (i.e., it has been satisfied nutritionally and I should focus on more fruits and veggies).

Does anyone have any thoughts?

In my opinion, nuts will slow down weight loss if used consistently...also, as a fat source, you can do so much better, avocados for example are great, flax seeds and oil, mac nut oil.. I wouldn't cut them out entirely, but definitely cut back (as they can be clogging to the body). Getting fat, vitamins, minerals, etc from a variety of sources is the best, I know especially when you're beginning its hard not to rely on the quick and easy things such as nuts but you should see what avocados and flax oil does for your skin ~ absolutely glowy!! (lol..I know..how vain of me)..but not to mention the added fiber and nutrient values of avo's!!

Thanks for the advice. I think you are right. I'll definitely start eating more avos... I have some here, I just don't eat them often.

Newyearspromise,

I am about 5 weeks raw. Easiest thing I've ever done. I also slowed up for a couple of weeks on my weight loss. I am cutting back from 1-2 avos a day to 1 every other day or so. I am also cutting back on my coconut oil from 2 tablspoons per day to 1 per day. I am keeping nuts the same (about 10-12 cashews or walnuts per day, sometimes less.

Since the cutbacks, I have lost about more 3 lbs.

I imagine that I will continue on with these cutbacks and hopefully I will continue losing. When I get to my desired weight, I will monitor my fats closely and find a maintaining balance of all of the fruits, veggies, fats and proteins which will probably mean increasing my fats a little. At this point, I am not into the carbohydrates (sprouted legumes and such).

I found that when my weight loss slowed, my body kind of told me I did not need as much fats for now. I just sensed that I did not want as much fat. In fact, tonight I had a coconut shake (one young coconut in the blender), and I knew my body did not need it and I ate it anyway and I felt a little like it was unnessesary. It tasted great though but I felt like I overdid it.

Good Luck,

Hope this helps you.
