I have considered doing something like this many times. But have always talked myself out of it.
I am very overweight and have the beginnings of arthritis at 40. I have tried many things to loose the pounds. Atkins, WeightWatchers, SouthBeach, low fat, no fat, low cal, low carb, you name it. some have worked for awile but it was always hard to keep it up.

That is the reason this program is a bit scarry, of all the daily eating plans, this one sound like it is really good for me, but also sounds difficult to keep up. I have a hard time mustering up the courage and willpower I had when I was a younger man.

I have had several friends who did the raw food thing as prescribed by doctors and they said that after a few days they felt incredible. But they too couldnt keep it up forever.

I want to at least try this for a few days and see how it goes. Pray for me (or wish me luck).

Thanks

Hi Wayniac -

I am new to this too. I have tried all the diets you've mentioned and then some. Eating raw just makes so much sense to me compared to all the other diets. And when you think of all the grass grazing and berry eating animals on this planet, they don't seem like they are lacking any nutrients or protein.

I am currently in the transitioning phase because we still have so much SAD food in our house. But I feel the journey and progress is better than nothing at all. It's not about being perfect, it's about making healthier choices for your body and mind.

I am also around your age, 38 and 60-70 lbs overweight. My mother has very bad arthritis and has had both hips replaced plus she has very bad heart disease and underwent surgery in June. And my Dad has gout and high blood pressure. I know my genetics are not good so I'm doing everything I can now to help my body while I still can.

Please let me know how you make out and feel free to add my to your buddy list if you want. No one should do this alone.

Good Luck with your journey,
Dancer

A change to raw food can be challenging, but allow yourself to make mistakes, to not like every single thing you eat and to try new things. Have fun with this. Go to the grocery store and spend real time in the produce section - consider produce you would have never purchased before - it's an adventure as well as a change to a healthier lifestyle. There are no limits and no rules to follow. Just eat what comes naturally to you - the food that God intended us to eat. May I add, this style of eating is also very spiritually cleansing as well. You will feel it, I promise.

This is a wonderful site, and Alissa's book provides great guidance and recipes if you don't have it yet. You are in the right place to find encouragement and support.

You have also just been added to my daily prayers Wayniac.

Best Wishes,
Anna
