View Full Version : Tips for staying 100%

I've been eating raw since the beginning of November, but haven't been able to stay 100% for more than a week or so. I tend to let a Luna Bar or piece of homemade all wheat bread creep in when stressful times hit or when I'm out shopping and unprepared. Actually, those are just excuses -- I think the real reason is that I have in my brain that there are other viable healthy choices that are "okay to have" every once in awhile.
But this isn't my goal. I want to be 100% -- I want to see the health benefits of 100%. I'm doing the 30 day challenge right now (really a 6 week challenge for me) and did well up until about the end of the first week (yesterday) and had a few things that I previously used to call "healthy."
It bugs me that I slipped up and I'm wondering if any of you could share tips of how you kept yourself 100%. Thanks!

for me staying raw at the beginning was a mind game
it's all in the head
to train the mind and heart to want it more then anything
and then proceed
looking at sad food for what it is, dead food
and look for the life in life the life in food
and it helps to have a positive
husband like mine who is also vegan raw foodist
the support is important
positive support
from those who care about you
if i tell myself there is no other way to live
but to eat live food
to stay young and healthy
and to eat cooked food would be a death wish
i then stay on the path
even if there were only one raw food to choose from
it's better for me to live off of that
then to eat any cooked food
this is my mind set and it's all a choice I make for myself
the choice and determination to stick with it
is more powerful then that one bite of sad food
that i know is not really food
but one step closer to sickness.
take care :)

It helps to have a buddy _ I met other raw mom at the park, so we call each other and meet, and exchange raw food books. I read so many in those two months when I am raw - that helps to keep inspiration high. Other things like this forum or websites are my inspiration too.
As for cravings - greens, the darker color the better. They are full of nutrients, and tend to calm all cravings. I love them in smoothies.

Thanks so much!
Lauradee -- I loved what you said about if there was only one raw food to eat, it's a better choice than cooked food and the one step closer to sickness. So true.
Green -- Thanks for the tip about greens and smoothies (and friends -- I do have a great friend that I e-mail who told me about Alissa and got me to eat raw. But I just heard about a doctor in town and her husband who both are raw foodists. I need to call them and get to know them (find out who else is in the area, etc.)
Re: greens -- I'm still at the stage where I have to push myself to add the greens to smoothies and juice, yet I always love the result when I do. Just another habit to develop. If you only knew how many greens I've thrown out of my fridge that have gone bad -- that's not happening anymore. My next step is to learn how to grow the greens. It shouldn't be too hard -- they grow really well in this climate.
