I am fasting once a week for 24 hours and I am raw 100% for 2 months now. My problem is that I still get my migraine headaches usually at night of my fasting day and then I finish my fast with salad and Advil...
Now I read Herbert Shelton's book Fasting Can Save Your Life, and he just talks about long term water fasts and migraines. He says I should take it without drugs and let it come to vomiting(which it comes to if I don't take medicine). Unfortunately if you have migraine you know how hard it is to take it(it is definetely 100 worse than childbirth pain) - it takes several agonizing hours untill I finally throw up and then it becomes better. Not too mention I can not go on the long fast, because I am nursing my toddler. Even if I could, Shelton says headaches might last up to a week untill they are gone for good.
What do you do, and maybe you found a gentler way to get rid of the migraines?

an enema! Seriously, this will relieve your headache a great deal, and quickly. ALso tons of water and moist heat such as one of those buckwheat hull bags you heat in the microwave. Again instant relief. Essential oils help also..rosemary and euculyptus the most noteworthy.

Hope that helps you..
Warmly~

Keep your magnesium levels up - this will assist in relaxing your cranial muscles.

Most of all, though - if you have a partner (or alternatively, an understanding friend) massage. It's wonderful for relieving headaches.

Enema! How I did not hink about it myself. Do you think I should get some colonics too? So far the cost and the procedure itself was not very apealing to me, but if that would help me with those awful headaches, I would.
About the massage - when I have migraine, I do not like anyone touching me, I just want to be in the dim light and left alone(the last one doen't work when you have toddler).

greeninlosangeles I am sorry about your migraines. I have done long term water fasts and sometimes I get migraines. I usually try to just have hot baths and peppermint oil on my head. But every once in awhile I do take a tylenal. People that have never had migraines do not understand the pain of one.
Migraines get better after long term water fasting. Also being raw vegan for over 10 years has helped mine.
