Hi,

I started out high raw--90% back in April of 05. My diet consisted of fruit veggies and flax oil with about an ounce or 2 of soaked almonds. My unraw item was some steamed green beans or caulifour with dinner and or lunch--a few ounces. Pretty clean and simple no salts or spices etc since my belly does not like them

Recently I let go of almonds and did more fruit but found myself in more of a hypoglycemic state-which included irritablility and clumsiness etc. Lately I have added in recipes like falafel-sp??, ana tahini sort of heavier foods and now I am hooked. I feel more sluggish but less in a spacy state. I feel like i did the reverse of many--i started out really simple and NOW jazzed it up...Am i alone on this process....?? I am not sure whether to let them go--the heavier foods b/c I crave them and fear the lbs gain....I am not one that can eat ALL RAW and not gain some LBS.....

I hope this is making sense..I just wonder if anyone has had this experience and what you did --stay with it or change.....

Other stats--it is cold wintertime here in Boston and I feel like i am looking for food for some comfort and taste..My older diet was sorta blah.

Thanks all!!

If I am not 100%, I WILL gain weight. I've noticed this with eating avacados & nuts/seeds.

I think it's fascinating how we all have different needs. Like, in Victoria Boutenko's book- her child that was craving mangos & blueberries & she learned from the nutritionalist that it's the best for his illness. (diabetes) Our bodies seems to talk i different ways about what it wants & cant manage.

Also, you will be sensetive to that others can eat all day long & not have to worry. I know you know this already, but if something is making you this ill (you might have an allergy or sensetivity) you can omit it. Find something else.

I keep forgetting to allow myself to relax & just cruise with this. I'm so stuck in an old standard american diet way of thinking.

When I started raw 5 weeks ago, I went all out and ate whatever I wanted, I craved coconut oil and sometimes, olive oil. I ates as much nuts as I wanted, but that was not that much of them. I was stuffed because that's what I wanted to eat.

Slowly over the past few weeks, I have a few times, just didn't feel like eating much, and for the past week or so, I have felt the cravings for the oils and fats decrease. The desire for the nuts is a little less than before.

I am becoming more sensitive to what my body tells me and I pretty much pay attention to it because if I don't, I just dont feel my best.

Once you get your "groove" going and you're coasting on your raw high, you are pretty much so happy and enjoying life so much that you aren't even interested in eating too much of anything that you don't really need because you are too busy enjoying life to even care about those things.

I've seen a few people post about the theory that our bodies crave some SAD foods because there is something the body is lacking that it knows it can get from the SAD source, so if you figure out what it is and where to get it from a raw source, the cravings should subside.

I thought that was definately an interesting take on listening to your body because it knows what it's doing.

You may be interested in the raw chili recipe in the recipe forum. I've heard it's good for cold weather and apparently very yummy and hearty from the reviews...
