View Full Version : need a recipe for a new nursing mom
I signed up at my church to bring a meal to the new moms that are about to give birth any day. I've never nursed so I don't know what to stay away from! :( Also-they are SAD, it has to be transportable and mild enough for a 3 yo and a 18 mo. I'm at a loss here....

I am still nursing my 18mo old and we often will have Majool dates stuffed with almond butter. I even sometimes stick in a sliced round of banana cut in half. But it may go brown on you if it will be sitting out for a while.
As those dates are big you can cut them in half lenghth wise and fill each half and serve!
As you look llike you will be serving many I suggest you get your dates at Costco. My branch sell theirs in a round tub for $7. They are not organic but for a crowd this may work.
Also another idea is pesto stuffed mushrooms. This can be assembled at the church quickly. You could bring your unfilled & de-stemmed mushrooms and even a pastry bag if you like or just a spoon with the pesto in a travel container.

Stay away from broccoli and other strong veggies. Those gave my little guy gas badly!
How about a carrot salad with carrots (shredded), raisens, nuts or sunflower seeds, and dressing. The receipe in Allisia's book is good.
Are you trying to make it all raw??? If she's not raw, she may not appreciate the refined taste of our wonderful food.
By-the-way -- thanks you are doing a good thing! I know, I've been on the receiving end.
