View Full Version : Yet another BEAUTY question.....

Good evening everyone....
I have looked through the forum and although this may sound a bit shallow, there are not a whole lot of topics about physical changes...
I need all the inspiration I can get! I am only 25 but I had a baby and I have stretch marks and other scars (insect bites) I would like to get rid of. My face is breaking out.. I don't know if this is the start of detox or not?
I was wondering, does a raw food diet help clear your skin of scars and stretch marks? Also, can everyone list the beautifying changes they have experienced?
So greatly appreciated!

I know that coconut oil helps wrinkles. I will ask my doctor about stretch marks.

Thanks... Hope this isn't too personal, but do you use the oil for that yourself? I bought some Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil for my face. I just recently learned about the coconut oil. Is that better for your face than Olive Oil?

I have noticed an improvement in my skin. I know vitamin C is good for collagen repair and of course good fats are also beneficial to the skin. You might want to try shea butter as a moisturizer. Try getting the raw unrefined kind because it has a higher vitamin content.

I don't use it for wrinkles because I don't have any yet, but I eat it every day. I will ask my raw vegan doctor about it at his Tuesday night lectures. It won't be for a couple of weeks though as his next lecture is being recorded for CD production and we can't interupt him with questions. I do know that someone asked him what coconut oil was good for and he just smiled, paused and said "many wonderful things". If you "google" coconut oil, then you will learn many good things about it. Also I know he said it is good for the outside of the skin because it is made of medium and short chain tryglycerides and that it is absorbable and affective through the skin as well. I do not know if it is better than olive oil or not. I do know it has many repairative properties though.

Renee,
I have heard of stretch marks disappearing with the use of Himelayan Crystal Salt.

Don't worry about sounding shallow . . . any woman on this board who's being honest with herself wouldn't mind getting beauty bonuses!
Actually, a huge reason I found out about this diet is because I knew that optimum beauty was only possible with optimal nutrition. My desire to look my physical best is a big motivation for me. And be encouraged! You will DEFINITELY reap beauty from this if you stick with it! Just look at the pictures people have posted of themselves here : )
When I first started, I had acne problems, too. But acne is one form of detox. It will go away if you persist. I've only been partially raw for about two months, and I've already seen huge changes in my appearance. My skin is so much softer, smoother, and more radiant.
You might want to look into doing a liver cleanse as well. I've read in several places that a congested liver contributes big-time to acne. If you're going to do a liver cleanse, though, it's a good idea to do a colon cleanse first. Feel free to email me about these if you have any questions. I've done both, with awesome results.
Keep on it, girl! You'll be sitting here in a few months and be SO glad you did!

Renee,
I have heard of stretch marks disappearing with the use of Himelayan Crystal Salt.
Is this from using the salt on foods? or applying it to the skin (I would assume in a salt scrub??)

Ditto, I would love to know more about that in particular. I'm with you renee with those post baby stretch marks. I had them before kid too. I have noticed that they look better when my stomach isn't bloated. When I am bloated they seem to be darker and more purple. When my stomach is flatter they almost fade.
About the acne. I have roseacea (sp?) and have found that being careful with my liver, following a liver cleanse when I haven't been and eating raw have been a great help. I do have to be careful with my trigger foods (tomatoes & peanuts) but all in all my skin is improving. It will still be a long time til I'll look "good" but better is enough for me.

I read on the living-foods board last year that a girl who was consistently drinking the "sole" and taking detox baths during a full moon noticed a considerable difference in her stretch marks. I'm wondering if anyone here has noticed the same difference.

I do not believe in any topical aplications helping acne or strechmarks. I do not get any acne anymore (2 months 100 percent raw) and my skin is smooth on my face, but my upper arms still feel rough. My scars are still there. My foot warts are smaller, but it might be just my subjective view. I' ll tell you. if they will vanish. I do think that it takes several years to see all the results - it took many years to polute the body - it will take at least several to clean it out.
Don't forget, even if your diet is perfect, you'll still fight new toxins from the air, from the water, etc.
That's why I fast once a week and recommend it to everyone. Creams and potions won't do a thing in my opinion!

PasRenee,
It is always to be the best we can be in my opinion. I met a beautiful lady at the credit union who used Oil of Olay for over twenty years and had very young looking skin. I have also me raw vegans who had the same look. My assumption then is practice. I have added coconut oil to my raw food diet both interally and externally. I am about twice your age, but so see an immediate improvement. The young looking lady at the credit union had a plan and stuck to it and so will I--mine just is a different path in being raw.
What a blessing for you to have found this path early.
Wishing you much health, happiness and healing.

I agree with LGJ that consistency helps. Then again, a lot of it is genetics. Just like those people who "eat whatever I want and don't gain a pound." Errr...
('Course doesn't mean they're healthy ;))
As far as your scars and stretch marks, I really don't know. I've never seen anyone's stretchmarks disappear, but they do and can lighten. And they can be hardly noticed if you tighten up your body through consistent, regular exercise (yo-yo-ing with exercise will produce flabby skin as much as yo-yo, inconsistent "dieting" will).
As young as you are, you have a *great* chance of you skin bouncing back -- your prognosis is good! Elasticity reduces with age, but moreso because of the behaviors I mentioned above. And, again, genetics plays a role too. How is the skin of your family?
Consume flax seeds and good fats; use pure organic ingredients externally. I like coconut oil and shea butter as well as Aubrey Organics products, available in health markets or HERE (http://www.aubrey-organics.com/index.cfm)
Best,
