:)
The lady that gave my husband and myself a colonic said that I had a difficult case of constipation and I've noticed since I've gone raw I have better bm's than when I was vegetarian.
Can any of you tell me will constipation cause your weight loss efforts to be hindered?
I know I don't have that bloated feeling since I learned to slow down and chew, chew, chew my food.
Thanks all.

Well, conceivably, constipation could hinder weight-loss efforts by virtue of the fact that constipation will severly impede your body's attempts at flushing out toxins. Many health enthusiasts claim that that one reaction of the body, to toxins it cannot expel, is to store them 'safely' in fat cells.

You really need to address the constipation issue, primarily for your general health, since auto-toxaemia (the reabsorption of toxins from the colon, due to inadequate expulsion) is linked to many serious disease conditions if allowed to contiue for an extended period of time. Flaxseed (WELL-HYDRATED!!!: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=85774#post85774) is a healthy, mild laxative, as are sesame seeds. Please do make sure you are consuming enough insoluble fibre and enough fluids.

One reason why people often experience better BMs on raw is because they are not expelling water from their produce via cooking. Therefore, their food is more hydrated and less additional fluid consumption is necessary to ensure regular BMs.
