Nothing to eat in the house!!
Help Me People!
What to buy!?
A lot of recipes online have like super foreign stuff, and kinda lost here.
What does 1 buy bulk of?
What are some raw-vegan meals?
Desserts?
Alternative to Peanut-Butter?
And Hello :)
Also in Miami, Florida... if that can help somehow.

First thing -- buy Alissa's book and DVD immediately. (Ask your parent to get it if you're dependent on them.) It will answer all your questions. She makes it simple and easy. Many of her recipes have no more than 5 ingredients in them. You needn't buy "foreign" ingredients or superfoods to succeed in being a raw vegan. Florida is an excellent place to be raw - you have many other raw & living foodists living there. Welcome!

Welcome to the forum!
I agree with Diana!!
Also, until you get the book/dvd...what you buy are any fruits and veggies that you currently like/love! Eat as much of them as you want...make huge salads and throw things in there like avocado, sprouts (you can buy alfalfa sprouts), tomatoes, etc...whatever you like. For dressing, you can squeeze some lemon on and add a sprinkling of garlic or onion powder and maybe a drizzle of raw honey if you like sweet dressing. Mix it all up and chow down!
Make smoothies with bananas, apples (if you have a standard blender, peel them first as I find that makes for a more pleasant experience and not having to spit out apple skin bits), strawberries (frozen is fine), and water...drink anytime of the day!
Check out or recipe section here on the forum as there are many there to try out.

desserts=dried unsulfered figs, bananas . plus bulk stuff mentioned next . shelled almonds and walnuts , raisins, sunseed to mix with dried fruits such as banana chips and pineapple chunks for an anytime take anywhere (carry it in 16 oz screw top plastic jars like they sell peanuts in ) quick energy fuel . raw vegan meal=mine is vegi rich salad with sesame seed for protein + calcium and raw sunseed for protein +vita e . i slice greens fine shredded like in coleslaw so that the seeds stick to them without falling off fork . i also add spinach for its vitamin a + calcium . then put in just as much vegi as greens , brocoli, mushroom, tomato, greenpepper is what suits me. then i spoon on cold pressed extra virgin olive oil or grape seed oil, then herbs , then squeeze half a lemon over all of it . to me ideally you get to the point where you say food is fuel , i dont want to spend any more time than needed playing around with it preparing and cleaning . just throw some food logs on the cell fires , guzzle down some water and go !!! good day

Alternative to peanut butter.....
Raw Almond Butter!!! You can buy already packaged raw almond butter at various stores (They carry it at our Publix....being that Publix started in FL I'm sure you have one there!) Or, order online at www.rawfoods.com
You can also make it. There are a lot of recipes online to make different nut butters (almond, cashew, etc.) Peanuts are not considered a good raw food.

You needn't buy any dehydrated stuff, actually. The simplest way to start is to just eat whatever fruits and vegetables that are in season that you like. Make a huge salad at least once a day -- be sure to add in an avocado or a handful of raw nuts or seeds for staying power (after all, your body is still growing and needs plenty of these plant-based fats -- NOT a bad word!! -- to help you function). If you can get dates (or figs, as mentioned, if you like them), they'll give you something sweet.
Hopefully, if you're living with your parent(s), you can enlist them to help you stock the kitchen with raw and living foods.
Be sure to update us on your progress!

ive just came back to this page after posting earlier and have noticed that RawTruth has advised against the dehydrated fruits i suggested and i want to say that i completely concede . although ive been a strict vegan 12 years and read into alot of books on health and nutrition and believe i have valid points to make i dont put myself in RawTruths league at all . so goldie listen to her over me , shes like a general and im like a private .

Michigan Roman, you crack me up! :D :D
The main reason I mentioned not needing dehydrated fruits was mostly because I'm assuming (eek!) that the OP is young and still living at home and may not be in control of the grocery budget. Some parents might balk at the expense of bunches of dried fruits. Also, banana chips aren't usually raw, but that's another story.
You had good suggestions, MR!!

RT , thanx for the morale boost general ( lol ) . plus i learned , and so did poor goldie whom i was steering in the wrong direction , that banana chips arent premium cell fuel . i knew you out ranked me . RAWk on RT ps- i just wanted to make sure , because im new to computers , that you know that i think lol means laughing out loud (because im not sure what everyone means by it ) and by saying it i was trying to be witty with the "general" term and wasnt trying to be sarcastic . just wanted to make sure you didnt take it wrong .

We could sure help you more if you would be more specific in your questions. For instance -- what kind of seeds do you want to sprout?
You can ask this question in the Sprouting area of this forum for much more detail, until you get Alissa's book.
Here are very GENERAL instructions: soak the seeds overnight in a big bowl, pour off the water and rinse. Spread the seeds thinly as far up the sides as they'll go up from the ones at the bottom. Cover the bowl with a papertowl or dishcloth, and leave it alone for a day or so. A couple of times, uncover, rinse under water, re-spread, and re-cover. When they've grown tails to the length you want, rinse, drain reawlly well and eat/refrigerate. It's actually very easy (depending on what you're sprouting, of course).

rt , i just noticed that you capitalized the word general and was wondering if that was a tongue in cheek reference to your new general title ? im laughing out loud again .

For that, I think you should be promoted to Sargent, at least! :D Geez, MR, I'm in a dilemma now as I really try not to be militant about raw & living foods. ;) (hee hee - I just love puns)

No, they're not. The term "roasted" lets you know it's not raw ;)
