Okay..... Here it goes...

On January 10th, I started a fast. After the fast I wanted to start eating only raw food. I messed up horribly and I am back to my SAD. I want to start a new fast tomorrow and after that start eating only raw food. Do you have to start with all organic fruits and veggies? Just wondering. It does get kind of steep in price.

A couple more questions..........

Is there anyone who is earing only raw food but still takes birth control pills? I do not think I would depend on Wild Yam or anything similar to prevent pregnancy. I need to be absolutely sure.

Does raw food clear your skin of scars/stretch marks/wrinkles? Does anyone have experience with their skin clearing? Does it really make you look younger?

Does this help with anxiety and depression?

Thanks in advance for your responses. Any tips on how to keep at it and not cheat would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I am not taking the pills, because I hat the idea of putting something like this inside my body. I once tried them, just to check them, and I totally hated that. Never again. There are always condoms and natural ways of determining the safe days. I have high doubts about the long-term safety of the pills, they are so un-natural...

I have had experience with my skin clearing. I also learned that staying all-raw is important. Once, both my husband and I relapsed for a few days. We could observe ourselves aging in front of our eyes. Sleep and exercise is important for great skin too.

Yes, raw foodsists report to be more cheerful than before, and I have read of people going off their anti-depression medication.

As far as cheating, I learned, after many relapses and failures, that the only way to stay all-raw is motivation. Cravings go away within a couple of weeks, but if, after that, you let yourself go, then the cravings may come back, so the best is to stay away from cooked completely. This is a very deep topic, and more than just "stay raw" advice is required. I collected a number of aricles/interviews focusing on this on my website. Also, check out what Alissa wrote about staying raw and having fun, it is very inspiring!

All the best,
Gosia.

PS
Oh, organic is not a must, make staying raw a priority. I cannot aford organic either. But, we are planning to grow our own fruit trees. To me, that is the best solution, if one can.

Hi, you got some really good advice from Gosia already.
I am curious about your fast and why you feel the need to fast before you start eating raw again ? Are you back to eating completely SAD diet again ? You may be trying to do too much too fast ! If possible clean out your kitchen, remove all SAD foods and stock up on RAW foods and supplies.
You have to set yourself up for success not failure !

As far as the Pill goes, I got pregnant with my third child while on the pill ! So nothing is 100% . But I do undersatnd your concern. I have seen holistic OB/GYNs maybe look one up in your area and see if they have an alternative. I was soo glad to get off them !

I strongly support the idea that a RAW food lifestyle makes you younger, all over, inside and out. My husband looks 10 years younger ! My hair is the gorgeous chestnut brown it was when I was in my 20's ! Both my husband and i were on anti-depressants and we no longer need them. I was on a mild dose of zoloft for my horrific PMS...all gone ! My hunsband can no longer predict when i'm getting my period by my mood !

So take is slow if you have to. Start off trying to stay raw until dinner, have a lite healthy meal and when your ready go 100%, but tell yourself your going to try to go 100% Raw for 1 day. You must set a goal you can reach ! Hopefully you'll be so proud of yourself at the end of day one you'll go fro another etc..

Keep us posted and don't give up !

I really wanted to lose some weight....... Fasting usually works pretty well for me. It's not possible to clean out my kitchen of cooked foods because I have a husband and a 19-month-old daughter. I have to cook for them! It has been very hard to fast preparing them food. I think I'm just going to start eating raw and maybe fast sometime in the future.

I really want to be a success at this... I just have a hard time with all the junk foods. My weakness............... I'm so glad I found this board for support. I am starting my raw journey tomorrow!

Wish me luck.....

Guess what I just learned about birth control pills. I went to a free pregnancy counselor to get tested because I thought I was pregnant. I wasn't but the made me watch a video anyway about female stuff. In it I learned that birth control pills make the endometrium, (the lining that you shed as your period and the nourishment for the fertilized egg) thinner and inadequate for sustaining the life of a fertilized egg. That means that by taking the pill, you may be depriving a place to live in the womb. Wow. I didn't know that.

By the way I tried to tell the lady I was a raw vegan because she was concerned about proper nourishment for the baby (before she did the test) and she kept telling me that many vegan people can raise healthy babies as long as they eat fish for protein. I told her I eat nuts and she kept saying that I didn't have to eat meat, I could eat fish. ( she ignored me when I said I eat nuts).

MMMM

I don't think some people understand what vegan is.
