Have any of you experienced low results from going raw as a result of birth control. I was just wondering if it could be prohibiting me from better results, I am beginning my 4th week raw, and still have not felt a big difference, not sure if any difference, but it was a thought about the birth control.

I stopped using the birth control pill a week or so before going raw... so can't help you with that...
What kind of results were you expecting or hoping for? Maybe your expectations were too high? I'm just guessing here, don't mean to offend you or anything... are you keeping a journal? Sometimes that helps to keep track of changes, but believe me, most of them are pretty subtle... unless for weightloss or detoxsymptoms of course... sometimes you can look in the mirror and thing, hey, was my skin always this way? Or my eyes look so much brighter? (not happened to me yet... skin is still baaaaaad!!)

hope this helped..

I definitely noticed some good results just going raw. I've been raw for about 10 or 11 months now, and just went off the birth control pills about a week and a half ago.....hey, that must be why I got sick! perhaps I'm detoxing from them! You helped me figure it out by remindingme , Brenda's bug! Thanks!

However, I did notice a lot of changes just going raw....who knows, maybe there will be more to come?

Mind if I bud in. a friend of mine is on birth control and is going to start raw here pretty soon. but my quesitons for you is probably the same as JAy.

what types of changes were you expecting?
what changes HAVE you noticed?
Are you drinking plenty of water?
Are you raw using organic?
Do you have a history--your body reacting slower to changes?
What was your prior eating like while on birth control?
What changes did you notice since being on birth control?

I hope these investigative questions may shed like on new discoveries....I am one to talk to myself quite abit and I find that alot these great memebers here help me answer my own questions.

crossing my fingers for ya,
linda :p

In answer to your question, yes I keep a daily journal of how I feel and what I eat. Maybe I do(did) expect too much. I read Alissa's site, then bought her book and dvds. Some of my problems are lack of sleep, which I have heard that is one of the things you feel better from soon after going raw, in general I just feel bad most of the time. I have lost 7.5lbs in 3 weeks which is great, but I guess I just expected a lot more of the health issues. I didn't realize that even people that are raw or have been for some time are experiencing the same problems. My skin does seem to be getting alittle better, so that is a plus.
This week has just been hard, with all of the food cravings and such. I feel more of an emotional attachment to food than anything, being almost 30 days 100% raw, I guess from what I have seen and read that people feel soooooo much better sooner than that.

sorry misslinda I was replying when you came in.
I ate what I thought was pretty decent before, normally fruit in the am or sometimes organic cereal, lots of smoothies or fresh juices ( from the juicer)
lunch or dinner i usually had a salad but the other meal was some form of meat or typical sad diet. I stopped caffeine about three weeks before going raw. I have always drank plenty of water. My bladder is about half the size of the average person, so i have always drank to try to stretch it out ( per doctor) I had suffered yeast problems in the past, and I used to take suppliments as well. I am 26 and usually I feel 50. Headaches were very common. I noticed my energy level is about 1-3 on an average day, and I think this should be my prime right? Hope I answered some of your questions, I thank you all for your help and support any more feedback and questions is welcomed.

NOn! you are doing awesome. Imagine being like me who goes in circles....you have accomplished more than you believe right now. Ask yourself this....would you feel better in the long run if you went back to eating cooked foods?

Every unnoticeable change may not be obvious to you but to your mind, body, organs, cells and tissues are screaming "Yippeeee!!!" I 've heard the "craving" feelings during your rawness is another level of detoxifying. I would encourage you to drink more water and a nice hot detox bath (one i use is mustard seed powder--works like majic).

Keep us posted!

luv,
linda

I don't claim to be an expert but rather offer so other avenues to consider....

Perhaps your body is in state of "defense" on these good changes. The longer you stick with this the body has no choice but to work properly towards better health.

Good for drinking plenty of water!!!!!

luv,
linda

I am a mother of two and living with my boyfriend of two years. I couldn't imagine the stress of getting pregnant so I do use the BC pill.
What have others used?

Hi. I was on birth control pills for years and then decided to get pregnant. It wasn't easy. I've never had a regular cycle. After having the twins I went right back on birth control and didn't like it at all. So, I have completely gone off of the hormones and now use the diaphragm. If I like it and decide not to have anymore children, I'm getting an IUD. Both the diaphragm and IUD are hormone free.

I'm eating all raw except for dinner (which is still a whole foods dinner) and hoping my cycle will start to even out.

I noticed my energy level is about 1-3 on an average day, and I think this should be my prime right?Brenda's bug, I hope this will give you some encouragement. I will be 46 next month and feel better now than I did when I was in my 20's. I actually feel like I'm in my prime now! So you have plenty of time to feel better again! ;) I must say that when I was in my 20's, I would never have suspected I'd feel as good as I do now. Back then, I thought this age was "old" and I have a whole new perspective now that I've reached "this age". :) I can out run my teenage sons! I have more energy than I ever have in my LIFE!

Just hang in there and keep in mind that everyone's body is different. It may take you a little longer, depending on how much repair work your body has to do. Like Linda said, the changes may not be noticeable yet ... but trust me, your body loves you for what you are doing. And in the long run, you'll love your body even more because of this choice. Also, your headaches could very well be a symptom of detoxing - so althought you are "still having" headaches, it may be for a different reason. Keep up the good work!

I know what you mean konacoral...I stayed on the pill as long as I did because I thought the stress of getting pregnant might be worse for me than the hormones.

I just went off the pill about a week and a half ago (I think). I'm pretty sure its what is responsible for my detox symptoms now. I feel like I have a bad cold! I went off the pill because I've been toying with the idea for a long time. When it comes down to it, I'm not comfortable with putting hormones in my body. So, now using a non-hormonal method.

Interestingly enough...I've been MUCH my sex drive is much, um, healthier  since I went stopped the pills. Once I get through the detox, I hope to be fine.

i JUST WANT TO ADD REAL QUICK THAT i ABSOULUTELY AM ONE THAT CANNOT TOLERATE BIRTH CONTROL PILLS. i HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT BRANDS OVER THE YEARS BUT ALL OF THEM MADE ME EXTREMELY "CRAZY"!!! tHEY SERIOUSLY EFFECTED MY EMOTIONS. i STOPPED EXPERIMENTING WITH THEM ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO AND i TOO COULDN'T IMAGINE GETTING PREGNANT AT THIS TIME(OR EARLIER) IN MY LIFE SO AFTER MUCH CONTIMPLATION i DECIDED TO HAVE AN I.U.D INSERTED. i AM STILL NOT CRAZY ABOUT HAVING ANYTHING FOREIGN IN MY BODY BUT IT IS MADE OF A VERY SAFE TITANIUM WHICH IS WHAT THEY USED IN MOST ARTIFICIAL JOINT REPLACEMENTS (THE HUMAN BODY IS LESS LIKELY TO REACT TO TITANIUM THAN OTHER METALS) AND AS MUCH AS i DON'T WANT TO HAVE ANY TYPE OF METAL IN MY BODY i WANT EVEN LESS A BABY GROWING IN MY BODY! bABIES ARE JUST NOT IN THE CARDS FOR ME RIGHT NOW. aNYHOW, MY RECOMMENDATION IS THE I.U.D. i FELL IT IS MUCH BETTER THAN EFFECTING YOUR HORMONAL SYSTEM. oNE LAST THING, IT ITS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU ARE IN A SAFE AND MONOGOMOUS RELATIONSHIP BEFORE YOU HAVE THIS DONE. AN I.U.D. AND A S.T.D. ARE VERY BAD COMBINATION!

I have been taking the "shot" depo for over a year now. And have been raw for the last 4-5 months. I have lost a good bit of weight ,but I think that the shot might be hindering me a little. I have recently read that once people get off bc they tend to lose weight. Is that so?

Either way, I have been toying with the idea for months now and will be getting off it. I just don't want anything "Extra" in my system that shouldn't be there.
