Well, 2 weeks into fully raw and this morning I was 10 lbs lighter than I was when I started! I'm very pleased as it hasn't been a struggle like normal diets, where you feel hungry and deprived all the time.
I'm going to make Alissa's avocado chutney tonight to have with a big salad (thanks to Samuel for pointing me in the right direction for the recipe). My treat is to have 1 avocado a day - on normal English low-fat diets they are banned due to the fat content.
I hope to get a dehydrator next month as I want to try things like the pesto mushrooms and crackers.
I look forward to seeing other weight loss details on this thread. I really do believe that 1st January 2006 signified not just a new year, but a totally new me as well.

1st Jan 06 202 lbs (how embarrassing to admit that!)
15th Jan 06 192 lbs
Target 150 lbs initially (would like to get there by end March 06)

CONGRATULATION on your weight loss. I'll be two weeks raw tomorrow . I lost 6 lbs last week but so far I'm only down 1 lb this week. I'm a little disappointed because the first week I ate a lot of dehydrated food and this week I ate nothing but veggies and friut. I know this is a great way to eat but to be honest if I don't start losing weight I will probably go back to eating sad. I really need to lose about 80 lbs. When I did weight watchers a few years ago I lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks and was very happy but then I got pregnant and started eating for 2  Oh well I plan to give this a month. So far it has been pretty easy.Keep up the good work.

7 pds in two weeks is great jazzy. Way not give it 90 days ? You will have a better idea of progress in that time. I do not think 30 is long enough to judge. I am not trying to lose weight but I am seeing other benefits right now at the 4 month mark. Skin is tigher , softer, less wrinkles in forehead, better digestion, more energy.
Also you should not compare the number of the Raw to the SAD diet. After all you know some of the WW diet was water in the first two weeks. Here you are not seeing the dehydration of the SAD diet and it may well be a more a true weight /fat loss.

When I was raw for three months (but i drank coffee, i admit it) I lost tons of weight at first...then i stopped losing pounds, but something else was changing. It was like my body was shifting or something. My clothes were getting loser, or fitting better, and i felt so much more energy and flexible. Don't stop just because the scale says nothing new....look to those other signs as well. I was losing inches, but not pounds. And it was amazing.

Hi Everyone,
I think it's important to remeber that raw is a lifestyle not a fad diet.
You will still need to exercise a bit to see continued weight loss.
Eventually you will get to an optimum body weight after you shed your old body.
As I've stated before on this site, I lost a lot of weight quickly and gained back 15lbs and leveled off at 180lbs. This is pretty normal for raw foodists.
All the best to Jazzycd. Check out new releases from Chris Botti and Jamie Cullam.
Peace,
M.B.

Hey everyone, I just want to say that I don't want this to be a fad diet. I really want to eat this way the rest of my life but I need to see some lbs lost :( Even if the scale is moving in the right direction I would be happy. I am just so tired since I started eating this way and I'm waiting for the burst of energy that every says they get to kick in. However since I started eating this way I've had a bowel movement every day but 1. That's great for me because I use to only go a couple times a week. So I guess that's what I have to look at all the positive things that are happening. Thanks for the pep talk I really needed it. :o

Hey Jan 1st people!
I"m doing ok but has a few sad set backs this weekend. sigh. I"m not dropping tons of weight like everyone else, but I"m seeing the difference in bloating & skin breakouts so it's worth it.
This is the longest I've ever made it & I seriously need to get to the grocery store if I'm going to stick with raw. I haven't gotten that burst of energy yet either but I'm attributing that to my not always makeing 100% raw everyday. It's a journey though.

Jazzycd,
I hope you stick to it. I lost 10 lb's in the first 2 weeks and that is truly a miracle because I gain instantly on SAD. I messed up and got some sushi because I wanted the seaweed wrapping on it so bad and that made me gain weight from the rice and also some cold mashed potatoes messed me up too so This last week I did not lose any.
Just the fact that I get to BM at least once a day is enough to keep me raw. I used to go only 1-2 times per week and I always felt awful.
You'll feel better after detoxing completely. I have so much energy now that I cant sleep.
I'm shocked and thrilled to say that as of this morning I have lost 20 lbs since January 1st!! I don't "officially" weigh myself until Sunday (so I won't update my signature line quite yet) but I thought it wouldn't hurt to take a sneak peek this morning. I've never lost weight so quickly or so effortlessly as I have on raw foods. I'm still learning how to eat raw so that part is a challange, but the weight loss sure isn't. And best of all, I've yet to feel guilty about what I've eaten.

Well done Dr Pr - you really have had a good start. I bet you feel much healthier too.
I'd love to lose 5lbs every week until I get to my goal but that is probably a bit optimistic. The first couple of weeks drop quickly but then it usually slows down a bit.
I'm sleeping a bit better now too which is good and the trips to the toilet have calmed down a bit but it is still a case of 'when you gotta go, you gotta go'.
I know going raw is a lifestyle change and not a 'faddy diet' but unless you have been seriously overweight you cannot appreciate how good it feels to lose weight so easily without being hungry. At my heaviest I weighed about 258 lbs and so be now be under 200 is a great achievement for me.
You will hear me scream in the US when I reach 150lbs as I don't think I've weighed that since I was about 16 years old. (I'm now 42.)
Best wishes to everyone for a successful weigh in on Sunday 22nd January.

I am 100% raw for 8 weeks now, and I was loosing weight the first two weeks, then it stopped for untill the last week I decided stop eating after nine at night. This is the time I put my son to bed and then I used to eat tons of raw stuff just to relax and have fun, not because I was hungry. That made me also go to the bathroom at night. So last week I lost 3 pounds again. Not that I am overweight much (125, 5'6 now on my scale, but it might be that it shows less than at medicinal scales), but I think I could loose more, because I see a lot of fat deposits still.
So I do believe that you can overeat on raw too, but to lesser extent than on SAD. I also think that I eat way too much fat(salad oil, avocado, seeds, flax crakers, nuts), but the first half year, my goal is just to stay raw without too many limitations. I might tackle that issue later. And i heard that after couple years most rawfooders naturally need much less fat and less food in general.
