Well, I already met Alissa (YEAH!!!!) Not to gloat or anything! I would like to met Rawkinlocs... she seems so cool! But wouldn't it be jammin to have all of us together??? Maybe when Alissa makes her billions... she could host a huge party for us!

I have two. Todd from this board and Janie from VegSource board. (Note: We were not to list Alissa - sorry about that Alissa).

I look up to Janie because of her having had an autoimmune disease (I had/have one also) and to see where she was and where she is today. I can relate to her because of health issues, being female, and being a little older.
http://www.ringlet.org/ (Janie's website).

I look up to Todd because of his Christian backing of the Raw Food Diet (yes, I know there are more - Rawkinlocs, Curtis, etc. but I could only pick one).

<>< Helen of Tennessee

But I also want to meet Nora, Dr. Graham, Roe Gallo, David Klein, . . . .

I've met the Boutenko's (all 4 of them) & Paul Nison. I've also met Edda, Allison & Nutrimom from this board.

Linda you are the best! You're so sweet, awww, you made me feel so special! Thank you so much!
AND of course I'd want to meet you too, it's like we share the same kind of humour, and we can relate, Luv ya!!
I'd also like to meet Analeah, maybe next year, if she's going to Thailand and I'd go to for a month or two (while being in Australia for a year).
Other people on my list that I would love to meet: Lisa (qetta) and Melissa (glad2beme)!
I've already met rawelkie from this board :) and hope to see her again soon!!

Thanks for wanting to meet lil' ole me :D

I really don't want to choose just one person because there are SO many of you who I'd really love to meet in person. Plus, I don't want anyone feeling bad or left out...so I'm gonna decline to answer.

Well would love to meet all you nice people but want to meet Woody Harrelson
some time. His stance on the environment, animals issues and the raw living lifestyle have impressed me.

I honestly would like to meet everyone on this board. Perhaps one day we can all meet somewhere for a weekend or something. I think that would be great! I mean we wouldn't have to be concerned with the food thats for sure and we would have so much to discuss. If I ever got into some loot, I may just sponsor something like that. What do you all think?

Todd and sweet lips taht would be too awesome. I'm for that....maybe we ought to take a poll to see where everyone is from? Do you think if we are good, Alissa will pay for all of our plane tickets?  :D

Now that is an awesome idea Raw! Let's do it. :)

I believe it can be done. I mean Jay and Vegbaby and Analeah are in different parts of the world. But I believe even that can be worked out. Those of us in the continental usa, pleeeeze, I know it can be done. What has to be done when the time comes is for everyone to see what their schedule looks like, then we need to determine the cost from each one's location so we can get a total. If I can, I would seek to pay for as much as possible with everyone putting in a little bit. I will pray on it. If the Lord wants it, if He says it will bring Him honor, then it will be. I have learned long ago to pay no attention to my bank account, because I know Him who owns the cattle upon a thousand hills. If its His will, it can be done. Wouldn't it be wonderful!!! :)

Todd--I like that thinking,,,,,the sky is the limit. Here is my thought. What if I got in contact with the local health food stores, newspapers etc to let them know about this "reunion" bring back great recipes and photos of living proof real raw people. Take the money and pay for my fare and help others???

IT CAN BE DONE !!!! Although we may have to convert dollars to EUROS for the others that are in Europe but wait Melanie (vegababy) she is in Mongolia????

linda

I know I would love to come to the US, when something like that would be arranged!!! If I can get a place to stay, I'm there!
Shall I bring the seaweed Melissa? Lol, you cracked me up with that response! :D
Remember I'm in Australia next year, and Analeah has plans to go to Thailand, so maybe in 2006??

misslinda
12-13-2004, 02:07 PM
Omg--I'm getting dizzy. that means we have to also think about time zones!!!

Jay,,,,,,,,you know you are always welcome in my place. My twin sister and I would drive you crazy--it would be a riot. You would just have to tolerate my sister talking about French this and French that!

I don't do drugs, rob or kill people.

Todd, do you want to be in charge of getting this idea organized?

I don't do drugs, rob or kill people.

Thank goodness!! ;)

Todd, remember I'm in Australia in 2005?? I don't think I can afford to fly to the US at that time, besides, my passport is apparantly not enough to get to the states, I'll be needing a new one (with a chip or something) and I just asked for a passport which arrives this week (because the new ones aren't available yet, )
Besides, summer 2005 is only like 6 months away... that's a rather short period to get more than 300 people moving! Of course, if you think it can be done, ok then, but then I won't be there i'm afraid... :(
I think it's better to plan it right, if you say summer 2006 for instance, I think a lot of people can join (maybe some of them have already booked a summer holiday for 2005, but hardly anybody has booked for 2006 I reckon...) and I can make "Raw Food Talk--Summer 2006" (or another name of course ;) ) my summer holiday and come to the US for the first time, yay!! :D

How about our 1st annual convention? Then we can do it every year in different places?

tglasco4
12-13-2004, 05:11 PM
Hey Jay, you have a good point. But I like Glad2bme's suggestion of some sort of annual "convention". Something that can be done at a different location each year. That way, maybe we can all come to Belgium one year...... ;)

hey let's brainstorm ideas to finance these conventions if you will call it. I think it would be a good idea to have a purpose if one wants to seek donations and funding.

Here's my thought--I thought since I know the owner and employees very well at the health food store that I shop at, I would bring back great recipes and testimonies/pictures. plus it would encourage food sale in their store. boost alternative health methods in the community.

here's my list:

pick every coin you see on the ground
recycle
gambling
car washes
donations: health food stores, markets, doctors, holistic practitioners, radio stations, family, friends, schools
sell on ebay
bake sales
door to door sponsorship
cut on expenses and seek alternative ways to lower your standard of living

**I've done the ebay thing in the past and my first month I made $350 it was fun**

I agree with the notion that we would need to organize this event. Like where, when( weather conditions), lodging, transportation, media if desired, catering, overhead costs, activities etc. there is so much to plan and I would be willing to offer assistance here. But I think if I remember correctly, there is a member who use to work for non profit org and do event planning--let's build this.

luv,
linda

Jay

bake sales
eeehm... don't you mean UN-bake sales?? :D Only joking of course, I like your ideas so much Linda! Have you done things like this before in the past?

I also like the idea of an annual convention, and then have it in a different place each year, but let's be practical here, NO WAY it's ever going to be in Belgium! That would cost way too much to fly everybody over (most of the members here are still from US) and there's not a lot of special fruits to be found here, I'd say go to Florida Keys, California, (or Thailand if you'd like to see a bit of the world) or so for a convention, not silly small Belgium!!

There are so many ways to sponsor this thing, but again, if we have it in 6 months, I don't know if there's plenty of time to get everything organised... just thinking practical here (I've got a practical mind people keep telling me :) ) and besides, I would LOVE to be at the first annual convention...

Joke

I would love to come too.

<>< Helen of Tennessee

Note: We need to have some of the annual meetings in the Middle of the U.S. Seems like people meet in California & NY. Those living there can attend many different seminars and raw restuarants. Those living in the middle of the U.S. (and other countries) don't find it too easily accessible and affordable to get to even 1 event. I'm gamed. I'll travel to Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina, Missouri, Mississippi, (you know, driving distance, in a one day drive).

Hey I like this - Todd I have event planning in my background so I can assist you if you need assistance. Also the idea of a different place yearly sounds wonderful. It would also be helpful to know each persons skills and talents that they may want to utilize and share during this time -like yoga, massage, raw food prep (hey that appears to be all of us) :D

Sweetlips thats great! I love it when folks just volunteer to pitch in. That makes for a sweet spirit. What I would like to know is, lets say there were 12 of us coming in the summer of 2005. Lets say (very hypothetically) it was going to be here in New Hampshire and I would provide housing for all. I would like to know what the round-trip airfare would be to either Boston or Manchester, NH for each of you. That way we have an idea of that cost. I think if we can each put something toward the airfare (for example $100) and lets see what the Lord does for us. Lets say it was for 3 days. I am not sure what 3 days, but I am just throwing stuff out there.

I have 100 acres out in the woods in middle TN. If you like camping, here might be a possibility. Oh, and there is an awesome campground near here with log cabins, meeting area, swimming, basketball, hiking, etc. That could be cool.

I think this would be fun. I'm in Ohio, so central US is a great idea.

Maybe there needs to be a raw non-profit organization to work on this? An organization to advocate the raw style.

If there's anything I can do I'd be happy to help out! Regardless of if I'm able to make it or not. Sounds like a wonderful idea!! :D

Just checked the price with British Airways and a return ticket from London to Boston would be aprox $1000 standard low fare price. Might be possible to get it cheaper with a special offer or something like that though...

Jay
12-14-2004, 10:16 AM
I did a random check as well,

to fly from Brussels to Boston (through Zurich) and back would cost me around $500!! Whoa, how come your flight is so much more expensive Tanja?
(maybe I did something wrong, but I did check the box brussels boston and back)...

tglasco4
12-14-2004, 12:35 PM
Wow. Tanja and Jay! Those fares are not too bad. I suppose it would be even cheaper for those in the continental us. I also like the idea of the middle of the country as well...the Tennessee thing sounds real appealing too Allison. I have family in Tennessee, would we have to camp out or is there housing available? I just thought a major hub like Boston would be reasonable and I see it is. Cool.

I'd have to look into this but i wonder if we all purchase tickets from the same airline, we would be offered a discount. this may be true for us traveling from the same country but then again i'll do more research and find out.

Middle usa is a good idea, this might have been bought up but we could all raise, give money and put into a fund to help off set the expenses of bringing over our friends from overseas. :)

I want to raise a question that may be of concern--and maybe not at all.

are we holding this convention in reference to this forum, site and members--reason I ask, is if we do, then we may need to seek permission or set it up differently??? or are we holding this "convention" on our own (as friends meeting together?)

I was just curious....any other thoughts.

Hi everyone,
Another suggestion. Event planning is HARD (been there done that) and it may serve our purpose even better to attend an event already being planned...such as the Costa Rica raw retreat in 2006, sounds heavenly. Here's the link http://www.rawworld.org/

There's also a "Rawstock" event in Sebastopol, California in 2005 sometime. Both of these events would provide us with lodgings, meals, speakers, activities...things we would otherwise have to plan ourselves.

In the meantime, we could always plan regional mini-meetings (one overnight stay) for people w/in easy driving distance of one another. I'd be into that too.

On another note, for the purpose of honesty here, I think the original post (the "who we want to meet" list) could be taken as a bit exclusionary or hurtful. I know it wasn't intended that way.

Jay
12-15-2004, 07:38 AM
I would love to go to the Costa Rica raw retreat 2006... but have you seen the prices???

I admit it's easier because everything's planned and we can just show up, but I think what most of us want is something special, something for the people on this board, a way to meet eachother, without spending too much money (like Costa Rica raw retreat)...

Olive

I'm likely going to Rawstock (for the weekend at least), so I'd love to meet up with others there! Due to my school schedule, I won't be able to travel until after next fall, so anything more involved is out. Sound wonderful though, to have a group meeting!

Sounds like a couple of issues are the most of concern: money then time

How 'bout we do the Disneyland thing and meet @ majic mountain. Not only that but I bet we could get awesome hotel and travel arrangements. Oui?

Hi Linda,
Yes, Costa Rica is pricey...but then again so is anything else if you factor in food, hotel, recreation etc. Disneyworld's a cute idea :) Keep me posted! Meanwhile, if anyone is near PA let's plan a potluck!
