Help with Smileys!

My smiley faces will not appear when I reply to a post. I chose "Disable smiley in text" at the bottom and that still does not do it.

Smiley experts are welcome to assist me.

By the way, you should NOT chose the 'disable smilies in text' because that way you won't be able to see them, you WANT to see them, not disable that option, right?

PaR EXAMPLE......

when I write a post like right now i will include a smiley in my text
~~~~> :D <~~~see no face smiley it should be the first green one with the teeth showing.
