You can eat it right off the spoon if you'd like; I prefer
to put it into a variety of things like: smoothies, raw ice-creams, raw
nut mylks, and desserts!

I use the "Virgin Oil De Coco-Crème" brand now; I got a huge bottle 32oz. just back in November and I am going to be out soon I like it so much.
I used a different brand before that and this one tastes so much better
in recipes I use it MUCH more. The other brand I used left everything
I made taste too coconutty. This one blends in with the other flavors much better.
The rest of my family still eats some cooked foods and I use it on
my son's flax waffles instead of butter, and on sweet potatoes.

It's also great on your skin and lips too.

How much do I use a day? that's hard to judge..anywhere from a teaspoon to
several tablespoons usually. Depends on what I am making and the amount the recipe needs..I made raw ice cream the other day that made over
a quart of ice cream and used 1/4 c. coconut butter/oil...for therapuetic benefits I think a tablespoon a day is about right....

I finally tracked down some coconut oil. As I understand it, it is useful for raw cakes as it acts like a setting agent so you don't get mushy slush on top of your date and walnut crust!!

Samuel - is that correct???

Thanks.

i use a T per person in my smoothies. usually twice a day. if you add it to a smoothie with nutmilk base, pineapple, and banana, it will taste like the most wonderful pina colada (sans alcohol of course) you have ever tasted. mmmmm

My raw vegan doctor recommends coconut oil so much that he sells it in his raw vegan restaraunt. He recommends 1-2 tablespoons daily. It is a superior oil that converts immediately into energy so you will probably benefit right away.

I get so much energy from it that I can't eat it too late in the day or I can't sleep.

It is also supposed to help your skin and hair. Also your cells membranes are mad of fats so when you eat this it will absorb it and shed the lesser quality fats. You may detox right away within a day or two but the sense of well-being that you get from it is worth it.

I eat it on crackers like butter.

research coconut oil on google. There are so many benefits that I could not list them all but there are many articles about it on the internet. Good luck!

I put coconut oil in my raw oatmeal...that coupled with a little sea salt makes it taste just like there's butter in it! Mmmm! :p But it has to be a coconut oil that tastes good...not all of them are created equally.

Is it possible to take too much per day? I know that probably doesn't make sense...especially since someone listed here the varied amounts that they can eat in a day.

I've been adding it in my morning shakes for the past several days. I just increased the amount from 1 tablespoon to about 1 1/2 tablespoons. Ever since the day that I increased the amount, I've been suffering from a bit of intestinal discomfort. Dunno if it's connected or not...most likely not. I just wondered if someone else experienced anything similar.

The only time I suffered from any intestinal discomfort was when I was starting out on super green foods...so, I wondered if this could be a similar occurence.

Anyways... Anyone? :)

I didn't notice intestinal discomfort, but maybe you are somewhat detoxing from the coconut oil. I started detoxing within 24 hour of taking coconut oil. Your body goes "Oh! theres some better oil! I think I will absorb that and get rid of the icky fats! So maybe your body is in the process of exchanging quality of fats and maybe it got your system in an uproar. Just a guess.
