Hi you all. :) I'm Allie, and I'm sixteen. I found a raw "cook"book at Barnes and Noble on Saturday. I can't quite remember the title, but it had recipes from many different raw chefs, and I thought it was really fascinating. I was really eager to try some of the recipes, even asking my mom to stop at the grocery store on the way home to get a few avocados, but we didn't have the time, so I just started eating raw things on Sunday.

I've been researching raw food online every day since then for several hours! I've lurked here since Sunday, and it seems like a really great community. :) I think this raw stuff is all so fascinating. I haven't eaten anything cooked since Sunday except one meal on Monday where I had cucumber sushi, but I'm not exactly beating myself up about the cooked rice lol. I know a lot of people don't go 100% right away, but aside from the sushi, that's really what I want to do. So far - and this is only my fifth day - I haven't had any detox symptoms and past Monday, and my cravings have been very weak. ItÂ’s easy to keep them away by just grabbing something raw instead, and hopefully itÂ’ll stay that wayÂ…

IÂ’m happy that my mom is so supportive of me! IÂ’m not sure if she thinks itÂ’s just a phase or not, but either way she is being very nice about it and buying me lots of fresh fruits/veggies. We have always eaten a lot of fruits/veggies, so she doesnÂ’t think itÂ’s too weird.

The only thing is that we havenÂ’t yet gotten any organic stuff. :( My mom is worried about the cost, so I will be buying that with my own money when I have the chance.

Also, I'm from Ohio. From reading in this forum, it seems like there are some raw get-togethers kind of near me. Maybe I could have my mom bring me to one. :)

Anyway, IÂ’m sure I will have a fun time being here. :) *waves to everyone*

Welcome HyacinthAllie,

It is exciting to learn that we can eat this way and not have to wory with sickness and weight problems. I'm glad you are learning this at 16 and your mom is used to eating fresh foods and supportive of your decision. I do remember that age, so full of life and energy. I'm 48. There are other teens here as I'm sure you have found from lurking. Also I have a website where you can find the raw groups in your area. I will find it for you now and come back and post it for you.

Thanks for the link. :) I did type in my area code though, and it says there are no meet-ups listed in my area... at least on that site.
