This is a question of debate with some people I know. I say you CAN overeat on a 90% raw vegan food lifestyle but you CAN'T on a 100% raw vegan food lifestyle.

Our bodies were meant to eat raw food, and so we tend to eat a lot less than when eating cooked because we find we are more satisfied with less (though to some people, 10 bananas might seem like a lot as most diets restrict eating bananas) I don't know if that is making any sense or not.
And we eat foods that don't put weight on us. I don't think we would have been giving the perfect eating plan in Gen 1:29 if God thought it was going to make us gain weight and be unhealthy.

Hi,

one can overeat on both 90% and 100% raw, and I have certainly done that. I only realized that after 2 years on raw. Thankfully, I am getting better and better at understanding what a true hunger is.

Nevertheless, I would not recommend that people who just begin, worry about this issue. It is far better to overeat and remain raw, then starve and slip back to old bad eating habbits. There is enough challenges at the beginning, and perfectionism (a deadly sin) can be very detrimental to one's progress.

Sincerely,
Gosia.

Considering that you can eat high fat foods like nuts, avocados and raw cheeses, you can certainly overdo it. I've read of many raw people who learned that they needed to cut down on those foods. Still, it's much healthier to eat those foods than the stuff I used to eat.

I agree that it is totally possible to overeat on raw. LOL I am living proof last night and today.

However, I think when you eat raw you are more in touch with your body's natural hunger and satiety mechanisms, so you are less likely to overeat and have more chance at eating within reasonable parameters and in accordance with your body's needs.

This brings to mind my husband told me years ago. . .

"even cows get fat"

Think about it. All they eat is grass.

lol..that made me laugh :D . The one thing about cows though, you never see them running across the field do you..maybe that is why they can get fat on grasxs, lack of activity !!

I totally agree you CAN over eat on raw, as well as any SAD, or other type diet. You may not feel as bad overeating on Raw but can be done for sure !!

Hi everyone,

Yes you can overeat on raw and you can gain weight.

You still need to exercise and balance your diet and caloric intake.

If you take in 3,000 raw calories and only burn 1,000 you are going in the wrong direction.
