Hello Everyone! ;)
I am a 25-year-old from Los Angeles. I recently found out about the raw food lifestyle. Today is my first day. I am going to fast for a little while first. I am hoping to cure my depression, make my skin glow, my eyes brighter, and just be an all around happier healthier person! Wish me luck!

I live in LA near the 10 FWY and La Brea. Can someone tell me how you make a picture small enough to fit in your avatar?
Thanks.

This is my first post and I am from Marina del Rey. I am new to this raw thing and I am very interested in taking a class to learn how to uncook for my family. Right now I am gathering info from as many places I can find on the internet. I am happy to find I am not the only one. :D

PasRenee, welcome to Raw. I hope your experience is truly as wonderful as I know it can be. Your reasons for going raw are sure to keep you on this path especially when you start seeing the incredible changes happening in and to your life. I'm finding my way back to raw after being cooked for the past two months. I don't want to dwell on why I went back as much as I want to concentrate on staying raw from day to day. I would suggest getting as much information as possible via Internet and books (Alissa Cohen's: Living on Life Food is a great one, as well as David Wolfe's: The Raw-Food Diet).

Hey guys,
I'm new to raw as well. And I'm also training for the LA marathon. Any chance any of you are doing that too?
In case you don't know about it, I discovered a new casual and cheap raw restaurant. Leaf Cuisine on Washington and Inglewood in Culver City. www.leafcuisine.com
They just opened a restaurant in Sherman Oaks too. Very delicious, almost too rich to be believed raw goodies. Try the desserts!

Welcome! Wow there's so many raw foodists in CA! It's amazing.
Do you have any experience in fasting? I would recommend to do a juice fast, rather than a water fast. It's a lot more enjoyable and you won't feel too weak. :)
Cheers!

Hi! I fairly new to the raw food diet too -- 12 weeks and feeling and looking fabulous. I'm also new to this forum and am hoping to connect with others in my area.
A big thank you to my daughter for leading me to this path. Thank you to those who have gone before me and lit the way. I am loving this journey to health and wellness -- each day is new and full of new raw wonders.
I would love to have more interaction with the "raw" community.

LuHi Lu! Welcome to the wonderful world of raw & living foods -- and to this forum, also. Yes, I've been to Leaf Cuisine many times -- the brownie is my favorite there. If you think those desserts are great, though, wait until you try the ones at Au Lac in Fountain Valley. By the way, there are a number of us (teachers and forum members both) who are training for the Chicago marathon in October - we've formed what we plan will be a huge contingent of raw runners. Send me a private message or email to chat about that -- and about other raw resources in Southern California, if you'd like.
Welcome again! What a magical path you've decided to take!

I would love to have more interaction with the "raw" community.Welcome kwink101!!!! I have a sneaking suspicion who you are -- and, if so, I've heard from two of your "acquaintances" just how dramatic and fantastic you look (and feel) now. Congratulations!!! In fact, I was with Alissa when a certain joyful person told her what a different her book/DVD had made in your life.
I am SOOO glad you're here. You are very lucky to have a daughter who cared enough to share this living food lifestyle with you (and some chili, too ;)).
You will most certainly find a supportive raw community here -- as well as a widespread one in Southern California. By the way, there is a raw food potluck in Glendale next Saturday -- if you're interested, contact Revvell. Two of my students will be attending, Revvell's unique style will captivate you, and there'll be loads of yummy food there.
