Hello everybody! My name is Frederic Patenaude and believe it or not I just found this site. I think you have a really cool community here and I really like this forum... (Of course Alissa's site is awesome!)
Some people may know me from my website (I saw my name popped up a few times in here) because I have a free weekly e-zine and I have also published a few recipe book and one book on raw foods.
Anyway I just wanted to say hi and that I will be contributing when I can.
All the best,
Frederic

Welcome Frederic,
I'm a reader of your ezine and enjoyed your recent article on traveling Raw. What kinds of fruit did you enjoy in Bali? Do they have Mangosteen and Rambutan there? Those were the fruits I enjoyed most in Thailand, along with the fresh bananas and pineapple of course! Ok, now I'm drooling. I've also read your name mentioned on Doug Grahams site. He wrote that your thinking is becoming more in line with his on the 811 approach to eating. I'm trying the 811 approach this year to see if I can get some weight loss going here.
I think you'll find we're a great community of people over here. I know we'll enjoy your input from your own personal experiences.

Thanks to all... yes in Bali the fruit was great. There were rambutans, mangoosteens, but also mangoes, durians, bananas, granadillas, and my favorite, jackfruit.
I have learned quite a bit from Doug but I don't call my approach 811 yet, I just promote eating low fat in general. I do eat lots of fruit but also lots of vegetables. I think this is a really good way to eat and it makes it so much easier once you learned to eat enough...!
As for my website I'm sorry it might not be clear enough. Basically the articles section is for subscribers but if you've lost the link for it you can just enter your e-mail in the box (under articles) again and it will bring you to the link. If you're already subscribed it won't take add you another time to the list, don't worry.
Then you can bookmark the page for future reference.

Amen! I gain fat (not necessarily weight) when I eat all fruit or a too-high fruit diet -- I store the carbs like crazy. Being a runner and a volume eater, I end up overeating if I'm on a too-high fruit diet. I need copious greens for balance and lots of veggies to keep the volume high and calories low; throw in some seeds and nuts (10-15 %) and I'm bank! :D
Welcome, Fred, nice to meet you.
Best,
Fred Patenaude

Best,
Well if your goal is weight loss then I guess you don't have to worry about not eating enough... :) But yeah, fruits are nutritious so you can gain weight on fruit if your calories in are more than your calories out.
Right now I strive to drink 64 oz. of green smoothies each day...

Hey Fred!!
I really enjoy your website and newsletters. I did the 5 day summer cleanse and also buy our tooth soap from your site. I need to put in another order......my SAD eating husband LOVES the tooth soap! He put it so well the other day on how using regular toothpaste makes his teeth feel "filmy"! Rightly so since that's exactly what it's doing! Yuck!!!
I was wondering if you ended up going scuba while in Bali? I hope so!!! It sounds like it was the opportunity of a lifetime!
So great to see you on here! I look forward to having you, Alissa, and Jinjee impart wisdom to all us who struggle with being 100% raw!
God bless!

I agree: one gains weight from excess calories. I do burn my calories (and earn them!) but when I'm out of balance, nutritionally (by overeating fruit), I will continue to eat even though full because my body is not satiated or truly fed. I really need those greens :). I make green smoothies too but, to give you an idea of how much greens I use, I end up with 64 ounces, but I use no fruit and only 1 Cup of water! I will occasionally use one piece of fruit :)
Green smoothies really brought me to the healthiest I've ever been -- I really needed the nutrition and I am and *feel* (in all ways) so balanced.
So what's in the toothpaste?! I use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide (a bit only; it's very potent); sometimes just baking soda and other times I use a natural toothpaste I still have.
Best,
sweetgoddess

hi,i live in southeast Asia, so i often eat the fruits mentioned above. miss durian much but it's not the season for durian now  FRederic, when u go Bali? u met the durian season right? It must be so enjoy...
is that the durian at bali wild, organic and 'aboriginal'( non-hybridize)? how sad when i knew the durian at my place are planted commercially and hybridized to give the durian the sweetess taste. those hybridized durian loss their original slighty bitter taste, and taste so sweet, have a big difference with those wild durian.
