I just love seeing all you young people getting a great start on life!
Hope you like the boards here and will gain much knowledge and share with us what you know.
I just checked your profile and see you're interested in kickboxing - how cool. My interest is in the martial arts :)

Hi Liana!
Welcome! So glad you decided to join us. I love kickboxing and tennis too! :D Haven't played tennis since I moved out of Florida :( and haven't kickboxed in ages. I have a son the same age as you and when I was kickboxing, I wanted to show him a move I'd learned and (accidentally) knocked him flat on the floor! ;) LOL. My sons don't mess with me anymore - especially now that I'm getting into karate with Helen. I came home from my first lesson and tried to show them what I'd learned and they ran from me screaming "NO MOM, NO!!" I was laughing so hard I was doubled over. So, instead I demonstrated on my husband and slapped him up both sides of the head. Hee hee. He got me back though.
ANYWAY... (back on topic) I think it's awesome that you are 100% raw. You will avoid a lot of health issues that others your age may experience as they grow older if they stay on the SAD diet. Also, the raw lifestyle helps you stay and look younger longer. I know that isn't all that important at your age, but when you start getting up there - like me - you will really appreciate it! :p So, stay raw - it's a win-win situation.
So Liana, how long have you been raw?

Welcome Liana,
I have a son soon to be 17 in 16 days - eats a little raw. It is wonderful as Helen said to have a young person investing in their health.
Take care :)

Yes, it is VERY nice to see more young people eating healthy. Alex the Raw Guru is like 19 I believe; the Bountenko kids; Storm and Jinjee's kids...I only wish I had began learning and practicing all this when my oldest children were babies...that would have been AWESOME to have raised my kids raw from the age of weaning! But, there's still time and hope for my kids...they're doing good actually and coming around slowly. Who knows where they'll be in 4-5 years when they're 17 and 18 years old! :D

Thank you all so much for the wonderful welcome. Nutrimom asked how long I've been raw, well, I am new to raw... I've been raw for a little over a month. Would you like to see a picture of me? Maybe I should add one to my profile... I lost 32 pounds on raw food (I have tried doing it before for 2 months but then I was too happy with my weight that I went back to SAD) and now I'm losing more weight (since I'm back to raw). I think I need to lose at least 35 pounds more to reach my ideal body. Nutrimom, I loooove karate! I used to be the 2nd best in a class full of boys (I was the only girl and I recieved a Silver Metal in the competition!). I don't do karate anymore. I focus on Tae-Bo (with billy blanks) and yoga.
Well that's it for now... I will reply to anyone who posts anything more (please do!) babye

I'm not sure how new it is, but it's Tae-Bo The Power Within and Tae-Bo The Strength within. Here's the link http://www.billyblanks.com/Products.asp Scroll down - it's the bottom two.

Hey Teen Girl!!!
My name is Pam and I'm 16... I'll be 17 this October! I have been eating raw with my mom for a little over two months now and I'm really excited that I found you on this site (I just joined) I have no one my age where I live (which is a close minded comunity in the poultry capital of the world) so i've mainly delt with adults who are raw and only a handful of those! Well I'm glad that I found you and I look forward to talking to you soon. -Pam :)

I agree with rawsurfer... On the chat thing and the way we think about it. Deff. get some weird looks when i'm like, "yeah so i'm raw..." Geeze it feels good to know i'm not alone. I don't think i could say that enough!!!

and not only that but just the food kids eat and the general indifference to taking responsibility , not only with their health but with their lives in general..
Pipen17
06-13-2007, 07:57 PM
YES! Exactly! Why do people have to be so close-minded about everything? I feel like such a dork when my friends whip out their burgers and fries while i'm sitting there peeling an orange... but hey. At least i'm a healthy dork.

I've actually been trying to get my friends into healthier eating : )
It starts simply, like a bag of baby carrots and apples, but I swear it's been working! At least 3 of my friends have been buying apples and carrots and grapefruits on their own now, and they're already seeing the benefits : )

That's good. One of my friends is pretty open minded and she's been a vegetarian before... but that's about where it stops. Sad no?

Oh, my friends will NEVER accept my Vegan-ism. They talk about it like it's a bad word. They think it comes far to close to "eating-disorder" behavior, that you "need nutrients from animal products" etc. So its not really an issue of me eating all-raw, its more of an issue of me not eating animal products.
It's still hard, but I've become more and more comfortable with myself during the process. It's no longer embarrassing for me to just go and sit with them at a restaurant while they eat. I'm more ok now with letting people know my boundaries, my choices, and not feeling the need to defend myself or even explain myself. My choices are my choices, and I never have judged my friends for their poor and unhealthy choices - smoking, sex, irresponsible choices.

lol, I think it's funny how people are welcoming Liana to the forum
...over 2 1/2 years after she first said hello.
But since this seems to be the new youngin's thread, I figured I should introduce myself.
On second thought, why don't I just start an official youngin's thread?
Pipen17
06-13-2007, 09:27 PM
Hey that sounds like a great idea! Then other youngins could see it and maye we could get this whole teen thing going on!
I did notice. (about the date i mean.) I saw the thread and was just so happy that right away i responded and after i had submitted it... i noticed
"2005" and felt really dumb... but then i looked back and saw a few people... teens! had responded so i didn't care anymore.

well, I'm not exactly a teen anymore. My b-day was 1/23/86, so I'm 21 now. I still consider myself a youngin, though. I'm not that far removed from my teenage years.
Pipen17
06-13-2007, 11:14 PM
Well whatever. It's all the same thing. We still have differnt thought from older folks... I started a thread about teens (or just a youngin' in general!)who aren't alone. So maybe we can drop this 2 1/2 years old thread and start a fresh new that might grab more interest! How about it?!?
I'm Pam by the way.
Random Violin Guy
06-13-2007, 11:22 PM
crap, you started a new youngin's thread, too? I just started one called "The Youngin's Thread" - pretty straight-forward.

06-13-2007, 11:25 PM
Hey no no no... it's fine! Maybe it'll really catch their attention now. (Hopefully not 2 1/2 years later right?)
Well i'm going to go to bed! It was nice chatting with you for a short little while anyway. Maybe we'll wake up tomorrow morning and find our threads full of users! (I just took a look at your thread and it looks like you already have some interest... 28 was not quite what i was thinking but it's all good!)
Night!
-Pam:)
