View Full Version : How much do you consume a day?

I was just carious to know how much spinach and zuchinni everyone eats on a daily basis? B/C i usually eat 2 bunches of spinach and several zuchinni .I just think maybe that is a little bit too much..But to tell you the truth spinach,zuchinni,and cucumber are the only veggies i enjoy eating or juicing...

I'm going through about 2 C of spinach chopped each day. I really like spinach though. No zuch's currently and only 1 cucumber this week so far.
How long have you been raw? I think in the begining it helps to stick with favorite vegies/fruits and slowly increase with a few new ones as you get further in your journey.
At least that's how I'm doing it. Each time I go to the store I find a few new things to try. I just got a pomegranite today, I haven't had one since I was in grade school. I wonder if I'll enjoy it as much as I remember for back then.

Chole,I have been raw for 3 1/2 weeks....I am willing to try any type of fruit but when it comes to veggies i am so picky,I think alot of it has to do with the smell from previously juicing those types of veggies.But then again on the other hand its easy to eat veggies like broccali and cauliflower,ect. steamed and smothered in ranch dressing....

i also love spinach , and i dont know if you garden ( if you dont you should at minimum do spinach because fresh its great ) but if you do a good seed source is www.superseeds.com . its the pine tree seed co in maine and they offer an ounce packet (2000 seeds ) for like $3 of 10 or so different variety of spinach which mature at differing speeds which gives you a long lasting bed .
I just started a raw food plan and have eating NO spinach or zucchini at all. I will likely start eating spinach quite a bit, though- it's very nutritious. I don't know that I want to eat zucchini raw, though! I eat cucumbers daily by adding them to taboule.

I eat several cups each of spinach, leaf/romaine lettuce, as well as tomatoes, 1/2 cucumber, kale and swiss chard, sprouts ( I grow them, so I eat them as they are ready), sweet onion, carrots etc, etc. I also eat zucchini and squash pretty often. And I am not mentioning the nuts, nut butters, fruit, dehydrated crackers (you get the idea).
I wouldn't worry about eating too much spinach/zucchini. If you are craving it, then your body wants it - there are worse things to crave! Alissas book has great veggie recipes, if you are looking to experiment with veggies that you enjoyed on the SAD. There is a recipe for broccoli w/ cheese that people on the site were raving about a while back, and there are a ton of excellent dips for hard veggies like carrots, celery, cauliflower, jicama, etc.. There are also several people on the site who are actively looking/experimenting with an authentic ranch dressing - and a few have been posted! :D
