Hello,
I am intrigued by the "raw food" diet, I have always felt that it was the way we are designed to eat. I am interested in the specifics of this lifestyle. Do you cook anything ever, like breads? Do you eat meat at all or is this a vegan diet? What about dairy products? Forgive me if these questions sound silly, I know nothing about this diet. I eat pretty natural and organic right now and eat no dairy products, but I do cook eat some whole grain breads and I cook certain things. Could someone give me a sample menu plan, or describe the particulars of this diet. I would love to begin eating this way ASAP.
Thanks
-Sean

Hello,
Do you cook anything ever, like breads?
No.
Do you eat meat at all or is this a vegan diet?
Vegan. You might wish to read the mission statement on the home page.
What about dairy products?
Already answered.

The best thing to do is purchase Alissa's book and dvds (Alissacohen.com). They will answer just about any question you have. (not that they wont be answered here, yet, it'll be easier to have them on-hand rather than waiting for a response.) You can also search here for any questions you might have. A lot of information is on the home page. Also, if you peruse journals you'll find out much as well. Happy eating. :)
BTW ~ most of us here don't consider this a "diet" so much as a lifestye or food program as "diet" has come to be known more for weight-loss ~ although technically, anything one puts in their mouth is considered part of their "diet". There are many "side" benefits to eating this way ~ one being weight transformation.

eating raw is having "living" foods; fruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts. We don't cook breads, but we can sprout grains and make breads with a dehydrater. I'm not sure if any on this board, but some people do eat raw meat and drink raw milk. I hope this was some help, I'm sure more people will have much more information and do a better job of explaining.

Hi Sean and welcome
You will find that there is a very varied mix of people here. Some are 100% raw and intend to stay that way. Some are partial raw and aim to be 100% . Some are partial raw and intend to stay that way.
The aim is to be 100% raw vegan. We prepare breads and crackers by sprouting grain and then dehydrating what ever mixture we add it to.
Right now I have a batch of crackers in my dehydrator made from flaxseed, sesame seed, lemmon juice and water. I also have some cookies made of sprouted buckwheat, figs, dates apple and raisins.
As for a daily diet everybody is different but I think that a lot of people have fresh fruit and green smoothies and salads early in the day and a prepared meal in the evening.
Dairy is very bad for your health so I am glad that you do not indulge.
