YUCK...........I just tried to juice a pomegrante. I have always loved POM brand juice when I could afford it. Have not had any since RAW. Decided to juice it myself added 4 apples and 1/2 the pom.......It was as bitter as drano....(haha...I guess. I have not really tasted Drano). Any suggestions on how to get the amazing benefits of pom juice in a palatable form?

I've been mixing my own pomegranate juice (I buy fresh pomegranates) with fresh-squeezed orange juice and have had this with my breakfast. It's sweet and tasty. I do not have a blender or juicer. Did you juice just the red "berries" from the pomegranate?

Yes...I scraped everything out as much as I could and threw it in to the juicer...maybe I should not have used the seeds (how?)? How do you get the juice with out a juicer...beyond the 1/2 cup that i had all over my counter and shirt from cutting it up -lol
I really love pom juice so please send me directions for a homemade juice and I will be forever greatful!
Thank You,

Glad to see this, because I was getting ready t do the same thing. Since we now know that doesn't work, I think I will try just putting the seeds in a very fine mesh strainer and "pushing" the juice through. I am thinking the juice comes from the sack around the seed, and the grinding of the seed is what is imparting the bitterness. I'll let you know if this works out. Thanks for sharing your unfortunate experience...you may have saved my 2 poms! :)
I just "mortar-and-pestle" it. I scrape the berries into a jar with high sides ('cuz this can be a messy job!) and then mash them all. I strain it and there it is- sweet pomegranate juice. It must be the seeds that made your juice yucky. Let us know when you make your own! You'll love it.

Thank You so much for sharing your technique...I have one ripe pom left and will try this in the morning...maybe outside -haha- They are messy lil' things aren't they? I have now figured out why the juice is so expensive!!! I will let you know how it turns out. btw I made an 4 apple, 1/2 Lemon, 2 stalk Celery, parsley and 1/2" slice GINGER -juice today that was the best I have ever tasted...I highly reccomend the combination-yum! Have a GREAT day!
