Hi All,

I am finding that the only thing that satisfies my cravings right now are my organic raisins and raw nuts (almond, walnut, macademia) The problem is that I tend to eat a lot of them, espeically raisins. They're addicting. I keep reading that on the raw diet I can eat what and when I like as long as it's raw. But nuts and raisins in large quantities would stall weight loss, if not make you gain weight, right? Or am I just being paranoid. I'm fine in the morning and afternoon with just fruits and veggies, but after my large dinner salad, I may have an apple or something but then still eat nuts and raisins. I have about 40 lbs to lose and would like to take it off to get back into my clothes.

Today was my first all the way raw day and I just couldn't avoid the nuts and raisins. They're raw, but should I cut them out of my diet? I'd hate to feel deprived but I don't want to stop the weight loss. Has anyone else experienced this or had experience eating nuts and raisins and still lost weight?

Thanks for your support.
Lynn

Yes, and it is a natural transition you ill go thru. I am finding my craving for almonds, seeds, and raisins or dried apple (trail mix) has subsided . Be patient it will happen !! A good idea is NOT restrict yourself from eating them..thru for weight loss you do need to "control"...a good idea is to get little snack baggies...and portion out the snacks. A serving would be about 22 Almonds and Two Tblspooons of Raisins. Put in a not so accessable area...take out ONLY what you want to eat that day.

Then once you do that substiture the other snack moments with Apple slices with Cinnamon give you the Crunch and sweetness.

Hope this helps !!

if youre worried about gaining weight try eating currants instead of raisins...i think currants calories are around 50 while raisins are close to 500. you can check on fitday.com for the nutritional and calorie values. raisins and currants taste almost the same

My thoughts are to maybe add some fat during the day so that you are more satisfied and will not overeat at night. Maybe your blood sugar is too low???It is also probably easier on your digestion and sleep to eat the denser foods the day versus night. For me, when I eat nuts and seeds in the pm i sleep worse and wake up feeling less refreshed--not to mention the fear and guilt i used to have for overeating.

This is just my experience...but my guess is in 2 weeks you'll probablly get sick of them anyways. I tend to love something eat it 24 / 7 and phase out pretty quick....so allow the process and pray for balance.:)
