Just sharing the happy news - we're having our first baby!!! Due in Sept and soooo excited.

I can tell you right now that I will most definitely stay vegan (like...duh) and probably stay pretty high raw...(because if I don't eat something every 1-2 hours I get woozy...and fruits/dates etc are sure handy!!) My only struggle is that I currently do not crave anything raw at all. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

Any input??

Love,
VeggieGirl & Hubby
and Embryo ;)

Oh, what wonderful news! Enjoy every minute! I have three kids, and finally with my third one, I got the birthing experience right! I found a midwife, that didn't frown upon me being raw, and that alone was a big concern of mine. Here is her link http://www.midwifemama.com , and if you want to talk some more, or have any questions, just give me a yell! :)

I can totally relate. I just had my fourth baby 3 weeks ago. I went raw the last 3 months of my pregnancy with him. I was a cooked vegan before that.

With each of the last two pregnancies I was so sick for the first 3 months and could not tolerate anything raw. I normally ate a pretty high raw diet naturally. In the beginning all I could eat were bland, cooked starches like brown rice, millet, and potatoes.

So do your best and see if maybe you can handle fruit.

Congratulations and keep us posted on how you are doing.

That is awesome news. I am happy for you. I know I am blessed with my baby. It is totally a different life after the baby, but its all good.

I was not a raw foodist when I was pregnant, but my husband would get me lots of salads, blueberries and oranges when I was pregnant.

My pregnancy was a breeze as was the birth. I didnt need any pain killers. She came out very fast. I hope you have the same wonderful experiences with your preganancy and birth.

When she comes out be sure to post a picture for us. When you start to get a schedule and some sleep. That happened for me when my baby was around 4 months old. (She started to sleep through the night) Before that I was in a wakeful coma.

Thank you everyone for your sweet, supportive comments. I am really excited to share all of this with you - especially all you old-timers like MonkeyBoy, MissLinda, sweetgoddess, plucked, lodestar...all my peeps... you know who you are :) MonkeyBoy, just make sure when you drink to that, it's raw wine. Better you than me, dude ;) And in case RawPriestess reads this ... a friend who is an intuitive called me the day BEFORE I found out, to tell me I was pregnant.. LOL...

I now am happy to announce a very joyous new arrival - hubby bought me a Vita Mix for my bday last week and HOLY COW, I think I can do this pregnancy even more raw than I thought I could before. What an amazing machine it is, hip hip hooray. Before long I'll be making my own baby food!

Anyway, I love you all and thanks so much for your support.

RAWK on!! Maybe now is the time to start a journal on here...for my pregancy, eh??

You mentioned not craving raw foods. I found my body was more vocal with it's wants during early pregnancy and the cravings were impossibly strong.

I would recommend looking at what you are craving and if its something not raw, analyse it to see what is in it nutritionally that your body may be needing and find a raw food rich in that nutrient!

Also, I personally lost all desire to eat for the first two months!

Cheers & congrats :)

PS My 18mo old has been raw since day one and is happy and thriving!

Hi gang... thanks for all the love and support. I am glad to hear that some of you would like me to keep a journal - "raw or not" - I have been really struggling to eat PERIOD and so I felt like if I'm not all raw that I would somehow be doing this group a disservice. That's silly now that I say it out loud. I am a vegan and always will be - and I could use some support making good and hopefully more RAW choices.

So I will start a journal - I tried to figure out how and couldn't so if anyone can help, please pm me. I read the stickies and all but I dunno, it just didn't click.

Thanks and I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you!!

Love,
VeggieGirl

VeggieGirl,
Congrat's!!! What exactly is your due date? We are execting also and are due Sept. 13th.

I would be really encouraged by reading your journal,,, have you started one yet? I am struggling to eat raw. Most days I do great, but sometimes the temptation is too much :(

So Please start a journal! I"d love to be able to read what you are eating!!

Best of luck to you in your pregnancy. I think I read this is your first? We are actually having # 7 so if you need any advice in that area, I'd be glad to help ;)

Jamie :)

Jamie,

Wow, number 7, that's great. This is my first, but I come from a family of 9 kids and I have 10 nieces and nephews. My mom and sisters are all natural/home birthers, so I'm in good hands :) But if you have any insights around being raw and pregnant, let me know! I am due Sept 5th or something like that... I don't pay much attention to due dates 'cause I know he'll come when he's READY!

I haven't started a journal yet 'cause I'm still trying to figure out how to set it up. I'll let you know. But I'll warn you, I'm not eating much of anything raw these days (and my body is paying for it, that's for sure! I have already gained 7 pounds - probably NOT attributed directly to baby, and my sinuses are all stuffy and throat is clogged). I trust that my body will balance out and I'll be able to eat what *I* want, hopefully after my first trimester!

I used to be really judgmental of pregnant women who seemed to use pregnancy as an excuse to do pretty much whatever they want, as if they had no say or control in their lives. What a fool I was!!! I don't even want to put on clothes in the morning!! lol.....

Today was especially hard. I haven't had any morning sickness but I came pretty close today. If I don't eat, I get sick. But I have no appetite and don't want to eat anything. So I pretty much have to go with the first thing that comes up as even remotely appetizing. Today it was vegan chocolate cake. Yep. Totally not raw. And Sweet Potato chips. A winning combination for sure.

Thanks again for all the support.
