Hi all,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

My hubby suprised me and bought me a Champion juicer--the latest model for Christmas and I am so excited!! Just wanted to share that I am TOTALLY HOOKED an obsessed with banana "ice cream". It is soooooo simple ~~ freeze a few bananas and use the flat plate and it is done!!! I am a totally PLAIN eater...pretty simple..but this stuff is addicting!!!! Wondering if anyone else is addicted to it too?? I can eat it breakfast and lunch---and snack too!!! :D

Are there any other fruits that come out as good as this as ice cream...???I am allergic to nuts and cannot add them or grains....just fyi....

I am also finding on my journey that I am sticking to fruit all day until evening when I juice and do a salad with flax oil. It is amazing how freeing it is to listen to my body and give it what it needs. This process is truly an adventure!!!

I know you can make a "pudding" out of frozen mango and fresh banana, so what about adding other fruits to your banana. I've tried the same thing with strawberries. Just mix them in alittle at a time...YUMMY!

mmmmm.....my latest obsession as well.
i don't have a heavy duty juicer, so i just make mine in my food processor-turns out heavenly! some things i like to add: spirulina, raw almond butter, ground ginger, carob powder, or caco nibs.

Mixing blueberries in it is heavenly to me (make sure both the bananas and the blueberries are frozen first) Gives it a sweeter, creamier texture in my opinion.

I made this so many times! When my pet rat was a baby all he would eat was the banana ice cream! He wouldn't eat raw bananas, or any other raw fruits or veggies! Just the ice cream :p

Using peaches is good too! Mmmmm...

My favorite toppings for banana ice cream are chopped walnuts, raw honey and cinnamon or allspice!

I love mixing other fruits with banana in my ice cream too. Mango, kiwi, berries are all good to mix in. I also will make carob ice cream by spooning some carob powder in after every 1/2 of a banana.

Jen,
Now you are all making me hungry! I love the frozen pineapple idea and I just might try it tonight after a long day in the salon! Banana/Pineapple ice cream sounds perfect and I think I have both frozen!
Happy New Year to all,
Lisa

I just happened to have 4 frozed bananas in my freezer yesterday, so when I saw this thread I thought ICE CREAM! I mixed the bananas with a little bit of pear in my blender and it was awesome! Thanks for the reminder about how good this can be.

Many Blessings,

I'm eating some as I read this, topped with carob sauce and chopped dates and almonds. It's my daily afternoon snack. I make it in my Vita-mix since I don't have a Champion juicer. Yum! :)

would you take the banana out of the peel before freezing?

Noodle - I've found it's a lot easier to work with the banana if you take it out of the peel before you freeze it.

Hi, yes peel then freeze. 3 mid size bananas broken in half fit very nicely in a zip loc sandwich bag.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the idea. After reading this thread, I froze 3 bananas. Tomorrow I'll make the ice cream in my Champion Juicer then (after reading your post) I'll cut open my pineapple and cut some out and sprinkle it on my banana ice cream. I can't wait!!!!

I am soooo glad to have seen these posts. I am an icecream junkie. I ordered some caco nuts the other day (should get here tomorrow or the next day). I cannot wait to make banana-caco nut icecream.

I want to also do raw for losing weight...I am wondering, with bananas, if I eat a lot of them, will I still lose weight?

I hate waiting for them to freeze or waiting for them to ripen!!!It's amazing that I can buy 2 huge bunches of banana's when I go to the market. Put 1 bunch aside for making the ice cream- I will not freeze them until they are truly ripe. Then I turn around and they are all gone- my kids, my husband, our 2 bunnies.....! Can't keep enough of them around...haha But, I also love the banana ice cream. Does anyone have a recipe for a Ginger Peach ice cream? I remember seeing it somewhere...was it an almond milk, peaches, ginger and cinnamon combo? It sounded delish! I wanted to try it.

Take Care,

i think I might have ruined my K-tec by blending frozen bananas in it - or maybe it was blending up almonds. i don't want to ruin my new Vitamix! Has anyone here tried blending the frozen bananas in a vitamix? I've also heard you can make banana ice cream that is to live for in a Greenstar Juicer. If anyone knows how, pass it on!!
